Consultancy : Consultant for Media Monitoring Assessment and Journalist Workshop
Reporting to : Communications Officer of the AHA Centre
Duration : 30 Working days
BACKGROUND
Journalists and news organisations play crucial roles in fostering disaster resilience through their reporting. They can share information of potential hazards, they can educate the public on the proper preparedness measures that they need to take before an impending disaster, or they can also provide the public with accurate information of ongoing emergency response operations. In order to achieve all this, the media must have the capacity to provide an informed and accurate reporting. A well informed and accurate news coverage can be very beneficial, especially during emergency post-disaster response, as they can generate trust and confidence of the public as well as support to the emergency responders.
