Job Description
Reporting to: Landscape Program Manager Kerinci Seblat
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and analyse data for FFI's work in the Kerinci Seblat landscape.
- Ensure MEL in the Kerinci Seblat landscape is appropriately designed in line with FFI approaches to understanding the impact of our work
- Collect social monitoring data and carry out stakeholder-mapping to develop the program's network.
- Communicate MEL findings to strengthen community awareness of the program, report to other internal and external stakeholders, and inform adaptive management.
- Use MEL findings to develop and design communications materials on good social forestry practices developed within the Kerinci Seblat landscape.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Help to refine and develop the Kerinci Seblat Landscape MEL system to measure progress to conservation impact against the program's Theory of Change in line with FFI's pragmatic approach to MEL, by working in close collaboration with the Conservation Science & Design and Kerinci Seblat & West Kalimantan Landscape teams.
- Develop and manage MEL tracking systems with an appropriate data management plan to securely and ethically store data, collate key findings, and monitor project progress, with support from the Conservation Science & Design team and Information Management Officer.
- Coordinate the collection of monitoring and evaluation data on a regular basis, in line with program needs and working with relevant team members and other technical experts.
- Refine and /or develop data collection protocols, using mobile phone Apps where appropriate. Train team members and partners in data collection protocols where necessary
- Clean, verify, validate and analyse monitoring data collected by team members and partners, including SMART patrol data, camera trap data, and species monitoring data.
- Collect and analyse stakeholder mapping and social impact data, including household surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions, liaising with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Research Coordinator, Asia Pacific and Conservation Livelihoods & Governance team to design data collection and analysis tools.
- Conduct deforestation analysis using Hansen data sets from Global Forest Watch, with support from the Remote Sensing & GIS Specialist, Asia Pacific and Senior Technical Specialist, Analytics
Learning & Adaptive Management
- Identify and share with project team members any successes, challenges and trends or patterns that emerge from data analysis to help the project adapt as it is implemented.
- Share and discuss findings with communities engaged in the Kerinci Seblat landscape program to validate findings, inform adaptive management, and develop commitment to and understanding of the conservation work.
Communication
- Design and develop materials to share good practices developed by the Kerinci Seblat landscape program team to key audiences
- Share relevant findings from project MEL with the Landscape Program Manager to support internal and external reporting, including to donors and FFI's annual reporting process.
- Share information and learning generated by MEL within the Kerinici Seblat landscape with colleagues across FFI's global operations, and other national and international conservation organisations.
General
- Carry out any other tasks from time to time that may be requested of by your Line Manager that are in line with your skills and experience
- Represent FFI at key fora, including consultations, negotiations, meetings, workshops and briefings
