The Australia Indonesia Health Security Partnership (AIHSP) is a 5-year program supported by the Australian Government and implemented by Cardno. AIHSP's overarching goal is to increase national health security in Indonesia so that women, men and communities are less at risk of emerging infectious diseases (EIDs), thereby contributing to Australian, regional and global health security as well as supporting sustainable economic development and food security in Indonesia. To support the achievement of this goal, AIHSP will work in partnership with Indonesian Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and other relevant agencies and Government of Australia to achieve the following 'End-of-Program Outcomes' (EOPOs):
1. Stronger GoI systems to prevent, detect and respond to public health and animal health emergencies from EIDs; and
2. Stronger national coordination of responses to national, regional and global health threats.
Gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) are important components of the program. The program integrates GEDSI considerations into all activity planning and implementation where possible; gender equality, disability and social inclusion strongly influence health security and how health systems are developed and delivered.
Purpose of the Position
The objectives of the position are to:
· Work with GESI Adviser to implement AIHSP's GEDSI Strategy
· Work with AIHSP team to ensure GEDSI is mainstreamed across program activities
The GEDSI Coordinator will:
· Coordinate and support the development and implementation of a range of mainstreamed GEDSI activities in human and animal health activities in program provinces
· Work with AIHSP team members to ensure a GEDSI focus is mainstreamed in program activities where possible
· Conduct field visits to understand specific GEDSI issues in pilot activity districts supported by GESI Adviser
· Report on the implementation of GEDSI activities implemented to Team Leader and GESI Adviser
· Work with AIHSP program managers to ensure all AIHSP activities are sensitive to gender equality, disability, and social inclusion
· Work with GESI Adviser to ensure GEDSI activities are incorporated in periodic reporting requirements indicating progress towards key program milestones
· Ensure GEDSI activities are compliant with contractual, regulatory and policy requirements
· Monitor progress of GEDSI-related activities and work with AIHSP M&E staff to ensure monitoring of activities are sensitive to gender equality, disability and social inclusion and support the implementation of GEDSI disaggregation across program reporting
· Provide reports as required for the GESI Adviser and Team Leader.
· Undertake other tasks as delegated by the Team Leader that are appropriate according to the position holder's skills and experience.
Selection criteria
1. A tertiary qualification in a relevant development field. A post graduate qualification would be an advantage.
2. A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mainstreaming GEDSI across program activities in Indonesia, preferably in the health sector. Experience working in DFAT-funded programs would be an advantage.
3. Sound understanding of DFAT's Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment Strategy and Development for All 2015-2020: Strategy for strengthening disability-inclusive development in Australia's aid program.
4. Strong network and experience working with women's organisations, DPOs, NGOs and relevant Indonesian government agencies at both national and sub-national levels.
5. Experience in program management would be an advantage.
6. Excellent team working and interpersonal skills including dealing both directly and indirectly with communities and government officials at various levels.
7. Ability to communicate clearly with people of different educational backgrounds, free of jargon, would be an advantage
8. Good English and Indonesian oral and written communication skills.
9. Good computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
10. Possess initiative, reliability, and honesty.
Assignment: Full-time national employment agreement
Duration: 12-month contract, with possibility of contract extension
