KOMPAK Program
KOMPAK is an Australia-Indonesia government partnership supporting the Government of Indonesia's efforts in reducing poverty through improvements in basic service delivery and creating opportunities for work. KOMPAK focuses its efforts on three result areas:
- Supporting Local Governments and Service Units to better address the needs of basic service users;
- Supporting the poor and vulnerable to benefit from improved village governance; and
- Supporting the poor and vulnerable to benefit from increased opportunities for employment and economic development.
The Opportunity
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Specialist (GESI) Specialist will support the GESI Lead to operationalize the GESI Strategy through technical oversight and support to mainstream GESI in various KOMPAK's models and interventions.
This position will work with the implementations teams to provide technical oversight to activities being implemented, support mobilizing technical support for GESI as required, and work with the Performance and Analytic team to ensure the information, data, and learning is effectively captured in designs, workplans, and monitoring plans from the outset and gathered, managed and analyzed in a systematic way.
Within the GESI team, the Specialist will work closely with the GESI Manager based on direction and supervision of the GESI Lead to ensure information from implementation (data, learning, good practice) is available and informs practice and improvement, and the needs of the implementation teams are met.
The advertised position is a full-time role expected to continue till June 2022. However, candidates with suitable qualifications who are willing to take a part-time role, are encouraged to apply (please mention your preference within the statement addressing the selection criteria).
Key Duties
- Support ongoing assessment of progress against the targets set out as outlined in the GESI Strategy (2018-2022). Work closely with the GESI Manager on delivery, reporting and monitoring of the overall implementation of GESI Strategy as directed by the GESI Lead.
- Together with the GESI team and the program implementation team identify strategic entry points to strengthen GESI mainstreaming in line with the GESI Strategy and the targets to be achieved.
- Using relevant GESI instruments in supervising and providing technical input to provincial and national teams on programs and activities in accordance with the agreed work plan. Provide recommendations and guide the necessary follow-up to identify practices, needs, gaps, and provide support to maintain quality work to the KOMPAK team in the implementation of GESI related activities.
- Identifying with the teamwork areas that need to be followed up and strategies to achieve them, whether through the support of consultants, partnerships with civil society organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities and or through collaboration with other programs.
- Compile and analyze information, data and progress on the implementation of the KOMPAK GESI Strategy by reviewing the entire portfolio of GESI Activities and conducting a higher-level KOMPAK analysis of outcomes, initial changes that emerged and contributions to impacts.
- Support the collection of information and data for the preparation of relevant reports, progress notes, concept development, activity design and GESI progress notes in collaboration with relevant technical leaders and/or provincial managers under the direction of the GESI Lead.
- Ensure that the program performance appraisal framework collects adequate and relevant information about men and women and other vulnerable groups. Ensure indicators and assessment processes are carried out in a gender sensitive and inclusive manner in all program design, implementation and monitoring activities.

Key Requirements
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (development studies, gender studies, politics, social studies).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in program implementation with a focus on community development and empowerment, and demonstrated experience in project management (design, implementation, budget management, monitoring) in Indonesia.
- Understanding of gender equality and social inclusion issues.
- Has practical and technical understanding of gender equality and inclusion, demonstrated by experience implementing activities with gender and inclusion considerations in Indonesia.
- Ability to analyze information and draft convincing reports.
- Highly developed written and spoken communication skills, in Bahasa and English.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills able to forget relations easily with a variety of stakeholders to motivate others, gain support for initiatives, and work towards achieving common objectives.
- Self-starter with a proactive attitude, able to multitask, operate with limited information and work under minimal supervision.
- Well-developed skills in project management including project planning, budgeting and forecasting.
