Yayasan Indonesia Cerah ("CERAH") is a non-profit organisation established on 11 October 2018. The organisation focuses on the issues of clean energy and the environment. CERAH promotes the narrative of shifting Indonesia's policy in energy transition as a leader in providing strategic communication to amplify key messages in the narrative of clean energy and its transition in Indonesia, cultivating and enhancing stakeholder engagement and providing recommendations to policymakers.

 

CERAH has been collaborating with multiple stakeholders and prominent figures, the media, and civil society organisations to educate and raise awareness, highlighting issues such as good governance and corruption, air pollution and the health impact of energy choices and renewable energy future and how that affects lifestyle and jobs.

 

To assist the ever-growing team, CERAH is looking for an Intern to assist our Climate Communications; the work of the employee will include:

 

  1. Passionate variety of issues revolving around the environment, energy transition, air pollution, climate policies, COP27, and G20).
  2. Digital savvy and interested in journalism.
  3. Have experience in community building and event organisation.
  4. Have the ability to conduct desktop research on climate and energy-related issues.
  5. Possess the ability to build and engage with journalists working on the economy, financial, energy, and environment-related issues.
  6. Able to work with different parties in assisting the Climate Communications team create social media content (IG/FB/Twitter).
  7. Have the ability to do social media walking and audience listening for related issues in climate change and energy transition.
  8. Any other task (s) assigned by Senior Strategist/Pro-transparency workstream lead.

 

Requirements:

 

  1. Candidates must have a basic knowledge and passion for cross-cutting the environment, energy transition, and climate change.
  2. Good writing and communication skills.
  3. Have good experience in organisational skills with the ability to work remotely under minimum supervision (preferably).
  4. Have a good command of English, both written and oral.
  5. Experience using and producing social media content.
  6. Fast learner, digital trend hunter, easily adaptable, and agile.

 


 

Duration and Fee:

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its corporate objective is to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ has been working in Indonesia since 1975 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 

In Indonesia, GIZ is implementing various energy projects under the umbrella of the Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN (EP). In the framework of Germany's G7 presidency and Indonesia's G20 presidency, bilateral and multilateral exchange on energy topics is increasing between Indonesia and Germany. These projects are commissioned by mainly the German government, represented by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and ministries of the German "International Climate Initiative" (IKI) including the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and the German Federal Ministry for Economy and Climate (BMWK). 

GIZ is advising the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) on the implementation of its Bilateral Energy Partnerships (BEP). Currently, such Energy Partnerships are established with Algeria, Ethiopia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Jordan, Morocco, Mexico, South Africa and Tunisia. The Bilateral Energy Partnerships of the German Federal Government aim at the intensification of political and professional exchange on energy topics between Germany and the partner countries as well as the support of private sector activities in the energy sector. They act as a dialogue platform and contact point for bilateral exchange in the energy sector for the actors involved from politics, business, research and civil society. In the mid-term, the establishment of an Energy Dialogue or a Bilateral Energy Partnership between Germany and Indonesia is foreseen. Furthermore, Indonesia is an important candidate for a multi donor Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). 

The candidate will be based in Jakarta as part of the GIZ Energy Programme (EP) , with his main role to support the Berlin team of the Bilateral Energy Partnerships in advising BMWK on the set-up and the implementation of a JETP, an Energy Partnership and/or other formats of cooperation with Indonesia. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in the Indonesian energy sector, to add in country-specific knowledge to the initiatives. He or she will function as a link between the EP in Indonesia and the BMWK initiatives and secure the flux of information and communication between both. 

To support implementation of the programme in Indonesia, we seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for: 

Energy Transition Advisor 

A.    Responsibilities 

The position holder
·         acts as interface between the EP in Jakarta and the BEP in Berlin, hereby being an integrated staff member and active contributor to EP groups such as Policy Group etc, keeping all staff informed
·         assists the BEP director in all operational and technical aspects related to the development and implementation of cooperation activities and preparation of a potential energy partnership.
·         assists the EP director in strategy development, donor coordination with regards to BMWK related energy initiatives, and partner communication and outreach in Indonesia (political partners)
·         Represents BMWK initiatives in Indonesia, under the guidance of the BEP and EP director
·         assists with Initiative and BEP project planning, strategic project development and develops concepts for activities.
·         implements daily operational aspects of all issues related to the BEP planned initiatives and related activities in Indonesia.
·         provides professional advisory services to and cooperates with a broad range of target groups in both Indonesia and Germany.
·         maintains a good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions, counterparts and GIZ projects and programmes.
·         carries out specific tasks in the field of cooperation with private sector and business associations, under the guidance of the EP and BEP directors.
·         assists the BEP project team in writing reports, proposals, minutes.
·         conducts research tasks and studies on technical as well as political issues and compiling information in English and Indonesian.
·         supports the project monitoring and updating information on project progress, documents and reports regularly on the status of results.
·         represents the interests and always acts on behalf of GIZ. 

B.    Tasks 

The position holder
Energy Partnership Conceptualisation between Germany (BMWK) and Indonesian stakeholders

  • prepares and comments concept papers, briefing papers and other documents on energy cooperation initiatives with Indonesia.
  • participates in workshops on content and structure of cooperation between Indonesia and Germany (online and on-site), strengthening the Indonesian perspective.
  • conceptualizes, organizes and documents expert workshops on different energy-related topics for different audiences (online and on-site in Indonesia).
  • further develops the GIZ involvement in the energy cooperation of BMWK by liasing with ministries in Indonesia. under the guidance of the EP Director and EP Senior Liaison Officer and other related staff of the EP 

Energy Technical Advisory and Capacity Development

  • conceptualizes, tenders and manages the elaboration of studies through external short-term and long-term consultants on energy topics with relevance for Indonesian and German partners.
  • conceptualizes and organizes delegation trips of high-ranking energy sector officials (public and private sector) to Indonesia and Germany.
  • conceptualizes, coordinates and documents meetings, workshops, study tours, trainings and other activities
  • supports cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with partners and cooperates with local communities, relevant organisations, non-governmental agencies and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationship

 Interface between BEP and EP Indonesia/ASEAN

  • Represents BEP and BMWK perspective within the EP in Indonesia, and participates in related internal and external strategy discussions and workshops
  • supports the EP and BEP director in the cooperation work with donors and international institutions
  • Acts as interface with other GIZ energy projects globally, in Germany and Indonesia and networking with colleagues from other cooperation projects in the energy sector. 

Knowledge Management and Communications

  • Supports knowledge management (incl. writing of reports, monitoring and translation of documents), cooperation and exchange with the EP and its projects in Indonesia
  • Supports public relations activities of the EP and the BEP, including the development of PR material, brochures, and participation in EP-overarching communication activities etc. 

Other tasks

  • implements other related tasks as arising from the EP and/or BEP Director 

C.    Required qualifications, competences and experience

 Qualifications

  • University degree (at least Bachelor) in an area that is related to the project fields such as energy management, economics, social sciences, engineering, environment, or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills, especially with the Indonesian governmental institutions, the energy sector and relevant business and civil society actors.
  • Be knowledgeable about stakeholder participation and dialogue. 

        Professional experience

  • At least 6 years' professional experience in in the field of international cooperation, energy, renewable energies or a comparable position.
  • Experienced in working in the (renewable) energy sector.
  • Experience working with Indonesian energy government stakeholders an advantage
  • Experienced in writing reports and documenting meetings.
  • Experienced in preparation and implementation of trainings, workshops, study tours, meetings or similar events.
  • Experienced in coordinating project activities.
  • Experienced in translating English and Indonesian documents. 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office).
  • Excellent knowledge of English and Indonesian; German language skills are a plus
  • Good knowledge of the Indonesian political system. Prior experience in a public entity is a plus
  • Good knowledge of the Indonesian energy sector
  • Good knowledge of the actors (public and private) and the regulatory framework of the Indonesian energy sector
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Indonesia and internationally
  • Team player, good communicator and a "can do" spirit

What we're looking for:

We are looking for a Program Development Manager (PDM) to design new programs, build coalitions and mobilize resources/funding in the area of Civic Rights in a Digital Age.

The Program Development Manager (PDM) plays a pivotal role in the heart of Yayasan Hivos' programming and excels in writing winning program/project proposals. He/she/they ensures the sustainability of Yayasan Hivos' Civic Rights in a Digital Age agenda by securing funding for global and local programs that inspire and have demonstrable impact. The PDM is part of the Program Development Team, coordinate with Program Development Coordinator and reports directly to the Executive Director. 

The PDM creates and maintains intimate and productive relationships with (key) funders, civil society – from a national, regional to a global level – and other stakeholders. He/she /they leads business development processes and builds strategic partnerships and consortia for program development and implementation. The PDM will be responsible for raising a specific percentage of Yayasan Hivos annual income as a result of market analysis and donor capture plans. He/she/they analyzes opportunities, ensures proposals fulfil internal and donor requirements, and translates Yayasan Hivos conceptual thinking into viable, sustainable and financially sound program propositions.

The PDM works in tandem with Management Team to ensure thematically solid propositions in line with Yayasan Hivos' strategy. He/she/they liaises with and supports regional director/eExecutive Ddirector and program managers to develop local, regional and global donor relations, donor intimacy and attractive propositions for funding. With these internal partners, the PDM will scout for – and follow up on – new business development opportunities. Next to that, the PDM supports program managers to develop repeat deals, realize scale and pro-actively involves the senior contract & negotiations officer to ensure deals positively contribute to Yayasan Hivos' mission and business continuity including backstopping managers in implementing high-quality program under the CRiDA impact area. 

Roles and responsibilities
Programme Development and Fundraising
  • Develop strategic and long term sustainability portfolio for CRiDA, as well as smart business models and fundraising.
  • Assures donor funding through target; Realizes Yayasan Hivos income from institutional donors in line with strategy and targets through development of new programs and projects in the impact area Civic Rights in a Digital.
  • Create investment opportunities; Scouts and plans for the capture of opportunities.
  • Donor account management; Develops and maintains relationships of donor intimacy with key funders.
  • Partnership building and management; Develops appropriate and interesting partnerships for proposal development. Builds and maintains relationships with partners and donors.
  • Viable program propositions; Develops winning proposals and donor propositions in close coordination with other impact areas (for cross cutting issues) and finance unit.

Managing CRiDA program portfolio
  • Project management; manage the CRiDA portfolio through supervision and support of Project Managers
  • Provide advise and guidance to CRiDA programs staff; program quality, donor relations and program manager's performance.

Knowledge, experiences and competencies
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience and expertise in the fields of Civic Rights in a Digital Age, business development and/or account management.
  • Substantial experience and proven success in program/business development and fundraising in the field of human rights, freedom of expression and civic engagement in the Southeast Asia. Global experience is also strong preference and advantage.
  • Substantial NGO experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and collaborating with strong and capable partner organizations and groups.
  • Able to drive the development of exciting and inspiring propositions and to lead key account management.
  • Understands how to gather donor intelligence in order to improve donor account management, with already established donor networks at both regional and global levels.

Marine Conservation Officer

Location: Papua Explorers, Raja Ampat

Duration: Minimum 1 year

Marine Conservation Officer will

• Lead, manage and organize the daily operations of SEA Centre on site.
• Create new projects that will provide meaningful data that will help government entities to make informed decisions and make contributions to scientific communities in addition to creating awareness within local communities and resort guests.
• Manage, coordinate and communicate all projects in close collaboration with project partners.
• Be responsible for the planning, process and production of quality results of projects to meet established goals.
• Prepare and conduct presentations to guests and resort employees related to SEA Centre activities as needed.
• Support third parties that SEA Centre has commitment to support like BLUD, YCKI, UNIPA and MMF.
• Work pro-actively and alongside Papua Explorers and Coralia management board and staff.

• A degree in Marine Science or a similar academic background

This position is based at Jakarta, Indonesia and reports to the Field Office Director, Indonesia.

 

Responsibilities

 

Leadership and Management

  • Ensure IJM Indonesia legal intervention activities adhere to global IJM standards, and the highest standards of legal and professional ethics;
  • Manage all aspects of the legal docket pertaining to IJM Indonesia cases;
  • Manage and ensure legal activities and objectives are achieved;
  • Provide timely, concise and thorough reports on achievements and challenges; and
  • Ensure full implementation of IJM Indonesia strategies, work plans and grant obligations (if any) regarding legal casework and capacity building.

Casework :

  • Fully understand criminal code and procedure, relevant labor laws, as well as current and future laws and procedure related to forced labor and human trafficking crimes;
  • Guide IJM Indonesia's strategy to support public prosecutors in forced labor and human trafficking criminal cases;
  • Develop relationships with prosecutors, court officials, lawyers, paralegals, police and NGOs with whom IJM and its partners can collaborate in forced labor exploitation and human trafficking cases;
  • Consult with IJM Indonesia program partners and their legal counsel, as applicable, to strengthen legal strategies and cases;
  • Lead preparation of written briefs, memoranda and arguments for use in court;
  • Develop and implement litigation plans for each case;
  • Pursue criminal and civil remedies for victims of forced labor and human trafficking;
  • Represent victims in criminal court proceedings including pre-trial hearings, trial and appeal, as well as civil proceedings;
  • Obtain accountability for perpetrators through conviction, asset seizure, or other penalties, and justice for victims, including compensation or payment of unpaid wages;
  • Advise the IJM Indonesia Law Enforcement Engagement Lead and IJM partners in development of cases;
  • Advise and assist the IJM Indonesia Survivor Services Lead and IJM partners on legal matters pertaining to effective care of victims of trafficking;

 

Partnership and Capacity Building :

  • Identify, develop and manage a network of lawyers and paralegals, or coordinate closely with existing networks, to provide legal assistance for TIP victims during the criminal justice process and in any related civil claims, and to advise IJM and other NGOs on case referrals; and
  • Provide and facilitate training to government authorities and other IJM Indonesia partners on legal issues related to forced labor and human trafficking offenses, laws and relevant procedures.

 

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance :

  • Support development of annual budget for legal casework and capacity building activities and manage spending of funds in accordance with IJM Indonesia budget and stewardship principles.

 

General tasks:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, IJM policies and best practices;
  • Update and use IJM's casework tracking systems and other data collection, monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the FOD.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Law degree (Sarjana Hukum) required; Master's in law degree (Magister Hukum) preferred;
  • Admission by the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI);
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience practicing law in criminal court, a corporate legal department or as a litigator at a private law firm or NGO.
  • Effective communication that enhances productivity and facilitates positive workplace relationships;
  • Strong research, writing and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia; and
  • Effective presentation skills.

 

Critical Qualities

The Need

This position is based at Jakarta, Indonesia and reports to the Field Office Director, Indonesia.

 

Responsibilities

 

Leadership and Management

  • Work closely with IJM colleagues and partners in carefully planning for and supporting law enforcement to rescue victims and arrest perpetrators, ensuring effective coordination among IJM, partners, and government agencies;
  • Lead the IJM Indonesia team and partners to engage in the best case development techniques, encouraging cohesive teamwork and stewardship of IJM resources;
  • Ensure adequate staff safety, security and care measures are employed, in coordination with the Field Office Director, Safety and Security Coordinator and relevant regional staff;
  • Ensure that detailed records are maintained for all fieldwork and interventions, including consistent and comprehensive use of internal case tracking and management tools;
  • Increase the Indonesia team's effectiveness, efficiency, and organization by developing, maintaining, and updating operating protocols and intervention strategies, as necessary;
  • Maintain communication with field office leadership on the status of cases; and
  • Ensure full implementation of IJM Indonesia grant obligations regarding law enforcement-related engagement and capacity building.

 

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation

  • Assess law enforcement capacity to sustainably combat forced labor trafficking in Indonesia;
  • Develop and document a thorough understanding of Indonesian and other relevant laws and criminal procedures regarding investigations, arrests, search and seizure, and the charging of trafficking suspects;
  • Provide expert consultation, and monitor the improvement of law enforcement in combating forced labor trafficking;
  • Provide expertise and assistance to Indonesian law enforcement and NGO partners in case development;
  • Develop and maintain operational best practices in case development for IJM personnel and partners;
  • Contribute to justice system strengthening strategies, implementation and monitoring and evaluation; and
  • Serve as witness in cases supported by IJM, as necessary and appropriate.

 

Networking & Partnership

  • Support a regional ILED strategy in coordination with the FLS Hub ILED Specialist;
  • Maintain good working relationships, collaborate with and provide support to IJM partners in case management;
  • Liaise with local and international law enforcement agencies, and NGO partners as applicable, to advocate for proper action on referrals; and
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with key law enforcement stakeholders, specialized law enforcement team leaders, government officials, NGOs and other relevant organizations;

General Accounting & Statutory Compliance

  • Support development and management of the budget for case development and law enforcement capacity building activities, spending funds according to IJM's budgetary and stewardship principles.

 

General tasks

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, IJM policies and best practices;
  • Update and use IJM's casework tracking systems and other data collection, monitoring and evaluation tools; and
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned by the Field Office Director.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in criminal investigations with a public law enforcement agency in Indonesia;
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership and team building experience;
  • Experience and understanding of human trafficking cases; and
  • Familiar with global law enforcement networks that combat human trafficking preferred;
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia, exceptional written and verbal communication (can make complex, technical concepts easy to understand);
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and social justice;
  • Experience in training development and rollout; and
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring.

In the past year, in the framework of supporting Government of Indonesia through its MOU with Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Wildlife Conservation Society Indonesia Program (WCS - IP) has significantly increased its engagement on forest/climate change policy, wildlife trade policy, support to the protected areas management, and development of other new KFW projects within the country program.

To support its program implementation, WCS-IP seeks a dynamic, well-organized, hard-working, and committed team player to support the management of grants for our field conservation programs, based out of the WCS-Indonesia headquarters in Bogor, Indonesia.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Under direct supervision from Grant and Budget Manager, the Grants & Budget Controller-KFW projects will perform following tasks:

General

  • Maintain good flow of communication between KFW related program staff and general support staff within WCS IP departments. This includes working closely with senior management staff (Grant & Budget Manager, Operations Director and relevant Program Manager(s)).
  • Support to Grants and Budget Manager in information and data gathering.
  • Assist Grants and Budget Manager to perform general budget/grants/contract monitoring and capacity building efforts to sub-grantees/sub-contractees, to ensure highest standards of financial integrity are followed
  • Assist Grants and Budget Manager to ensure that all KFW projects/activities in the country program are in compliance and respecting national legislation including customs regulations, labor rights, taxes, benefits, etc.
  • Closely coordinate with Finance team to deal with all invoicing and annual KfW audits

Budget Monitoring

  • Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar, including donor and sub-grant reporting deadlines, Budget vs Actual meetings, Grant Opening, Review and Closing meetings for the KFW projects.
  • Review the Reference Key 3 inputs in the SAP System (line item classification).
  • Monitor the Budget Status on daily basis.
  • Prepare Budget Revision if necessary.
  • Create the Grant Code Request and submit to Headquarters.
  • Contact focal points from different departments to schedule meetings.
  • Prepare and monitor the Milestone Checklist
  • Support the Grants and Budget Manager by taking and distributing detailed notes at Budget and Grants-related meetings.
  • Support the Grants and Budget Manager by maintain all paper and electronic grant files.
  • In coordination with IT Officer, maintain proper filling system and online database for all WCS-IP grants and contracts within WCS-PI intranet, for better documentation and accessibility.
  • Perform other duties, as requested by the Grants and Budget Manager.

Grants and Contract Monitoring

  • Prepare an accurate database of project funding, including contracts, project budgets and donor-specific procedures and regulation.
  • Contact focal points from Sub-contractees and Sub-awardees to schedule meetings.
  • Prepare a sub-award due diligence/assessment
  • Prepare a checklist to help Sub-contractees and Sub-awardees to meet the financial reporting requirement.
  • Review the Financial Reports of Sub-contractees and Sub-awardees and also its supporting documents.
  • Perform field audit of Sub-contractees or Sub-awardees' financial system and reports.
  • Prepare field audit working paper and provide audit report to the Grants and Budget Manager.
  • Review Sub-grant agreement and keep the filing for all related documents.
  • Deliver capacity building to improve sub-awardees compliance
  • Perform other duties, as requested by the Grants and Budget Manager.

Internal Audit

  • Provide analysis and ensure financial operations and administration is compliant with risk profile, regulations and donor requirements, as well as sub-grantees' procedure. Provide solutions and recommendations where needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 3 years prior professional experience in a similar post.
  • Experience as internal auditor or quality assurance is an added value.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grant and contract compliance, with U.S. Government Agencies and/or other European Government/Agencies.
  • Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
  • Mature and able to build efficient and effective communication with different parties, i.e. fellow coworkers, supervisors, senior & program manager(s), sub-grantees/sub-contractees, auditors, government partners, etc.
  • Highly organized, fast learner with good interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively under time pressure and to meet deadlines.
