Dear Potential Bidders,
Nutrition International (NI) has been supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH), Government of Indonesia in implementing Weekly Iron and Folic Acid (WIFA) supplementation and adolescent nutrition interventions for school-going adolescent girls since 2015. The WIFAS program in Indonesia is a multisectoral intervention through the School Health Program (UKS/M), involving four ministries: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Culture, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs. NI is now continuing its support to scale up and to replicate the key WIFAS program elements in Banten and West Java Provinces.
The COVID-19 pandemic added new challenges to the implementation of WIFA supplementation program in Indonesia in 2020-22. Now, as schools are opening advocacy to continue WIFAS and adolescent nutrition program through the school-based platform is urgently required. In addition, capacity building, and strong collaboration among multi-stakeholders and existing development partners at all levels to support the program implementation including to monitoring and report the coverage and consumption data is required.
Government of Indonesia has partnered with Scouts (Saka Bakti Husada - SBH), Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), a school-based Youth Red Cross, and with Family Welfare and Empowerment (PKK) for community-based platform like Youth Posyandu to roll out the health and nutrition program for adolescents at schools and community level. Community and school-based groups such as Scouts (SBH - Saka Bakti Husada), PKK and PMI can be key agents of promotion of WIFAS and adolescent nutrition program in Indonesia as school-based implementation is being restarted. Hence, NI plans to conduct advocacy and annual review meetings in West Java and Banten to enroll the active participation of these key groups in the adolescent nutrition activities. It is hoped that engagement of these groups will smooth transition back to in-school WIFAS program, ensure long-term sustainability and resilience.
NI is to seek a suitable agency to organize the following activities:
a. Advocacy meetings with existing development partners/institutions (e.g., Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK); UKS/M Team; Saka Bhakti Husada-SBH (Scout) and PMI (Youth Red Cross) at province level) in West Java and Banten provinces.
b. WIFAS Annual Program Review Meetings in Banten and West Java province to review the ongoing program and develop program implementation action plan for next year.
