SurfAid is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. SurfAid has worked in a few locations in Indonesia: Mentawai Islands District in Sumatra Barat, Nias District in Sumatra Utara, Bima District in NTB and Sumba Barat District in NTT. We work in the areas that are considered the most remote, with limited infrastructure and few community empowerment programs working there.
We are looking for an experienced, resourceful person with a positive "CAN DO" attitude who is able to work independently as our:
SAFEGUARDING SPECIALIST - ROVING
As part of the Programs Team, the Safeguarding Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance of safeguarding practices to ensure "do no harm" and best outcomes in our organisation, across our programs, and with all our partners.
THE PERSON:
You have good interpersonal, persuasion, and negotiation skills to coordinate and collaborate with all teams within the organization to achieve the successful results. You are willing to go to remote areas to support our field teams and local partners and travel in very basic conditions. It would be great if you are used to working with small organizations, as you are required to be hands-on as necessary to contribute in improving the system and able to work independently.
THE QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCES:
A master's degree or equivalent experience in a field related to international development or humanitarian assistance.
Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing safeguarding, do no harm, gender, or inclusion topics.
Sound knowledge and experience of safeguarding principles at the organizational level and local partners.
Familiar with any of the following cross-cutting issues: child protection, PSEAH, gender equality, inclusion of people with disabilities, environment, mainstreaming them in the program activities.
Experience in providing training or capacity building to local partners.
Experience in working in rural or remote areas.
Clear communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Analytical skills, strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
Multi tasking, creative and resourceful CAN DO ATTITUDE!
Approachable, empathetic, and cooperative.
This position is a roving position for local or non-local staff, and can be based in Bali office or working remotely.
