The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its corporate objective is to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ has been working in Indonesia since 1975 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project '"Emissions reduction in cities through improved waste management (DKTI)" has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with an implementation period until July 2023 (likely to be extended until March 2024). The project responds to the problem faced by Indonesia concerning waste management, circular economy and tackling greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Indonesia is one of largest emitters of GHG in the world, with unmanaged food waste alone contributing more than 7% of its total. The main reasons are the mismanagement of waste, open burning and dumping as well as insufficient segregation and recycling rates due to a lack of awareness, capacities and infrastructure alike.
The project aims to support the implementation of suitable waste management systems by improving required conditions in the national and municipal levels. Across 6 partner municipalities (Bukittinggi, Jambi, Bogor Regency, Cirebon, Malang, Denpasar) the project contributes to 3 outputs: 1) improvement of technical know-how & planning instruments; 2) improvement of waste and climate related data monitoring and reporting; and 3) enabling viable financing mechanisms.
To support this project, GIZ is currently recruiting one (1) Indonesian candidate for the following position:
Trainee for Communications & Knowledge Management
A. Responsibilities
During the trainee, participants will be mentored by DKTI's staff and will be given spesific assignments to support the DKTI project team in the areas of digital communication and knowledge management. At the end of trainee period, DKTI's mentors will write an evaluation report related to the performance of the trainee. This evaluation report will serve as material for the issuance of the trainee certificate by GIZ.
B. Tasks
1. Support activities relating to communication & knowledge management about the project intervention in the 6 partner municipalities across Indonesia within the 3 main topical areas: 1) planning instruments for sustainable municipal waste management, 2) waste and climate data monitoring and reporting as well as 3) financial management support
2. Support relevant activities for the preparation, implementation and finalization of technical workshops/webinars/ conference/ meetings conducted or supported by the project
3. Support monitoring & reporting of the implementation of the 6 pilot projects in the 6 partner municipalities
4. Support awareness raising and communication activities in collaboration with NGOs or other partner organisations
5. Support the collection, compilation and management all the projects' communication materials and technical documentation (technical reports, meeting notes, pictures, etc.), both internally and externally. This includes e.g. the Solid Waste Management Working Group and partner ministries
6. Compile social media content for communications related activities
C. Required qualifications and competences
Qualifications
· Fresh graduate or last semester bachelor student in the field of marketing, communications with a focus on sustainability or similar· Very good English language skills
· Strong interest to work on issue related to sustainable development, circular economy, waste management, emissions reduction and awareness raising
Professional experiences
· Basic knowledge of GIZ's work and context of international development cooperation· Initial experience in the areas of communications, digital marketing, social media and content creation
· Good organizational, conceptual and interpersonal skills
Other knowledge, additional competences
· Experience in using digital video/image editing programs· Discipline and effective time management skills, ability to work independently with a strong willingness to learn
· Good command of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
· Very good English language skills
· Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment
· Experience in writing articles, blog posts or social-media content
