The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. Its corporate objective is to improve people's living conditions on a sustainable basis. GIZ has been working in Indonesia since 1975.
GIZ is currently implementing a project, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), called "Strategic Exploration of Economic Mitigation Potentials through Renewables" (ExploRE). The project aims to enhance strategic options on the Renewable Energies (RE) in the energy sector, climate policies, development planning, and financial sectors and to help create a more coherent environment between key players.
Together with Directorate of Various New Energy and Renewable Energy of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource (MEMR), the project has been implementing a number of activities to promote green hydrogen which can be used to decarbonize the "hard-to-abate" sectors such as
- Non-Energy: fertilizer and steel industries
- Energy: shipping, aviation and long-haul transport, long-term energy storage
To support the implementation of relevant activities, ExploRE project is seeking one Indonesian candidate for this position:
Trainee on Green Hydrogen
A. Responsibilities
The trainee will support the implementation of ExploRE project activities on green hydrogen topics, specifically through data collection and analysis, drafting and reviewing technical documents and supporting the development of information and knowledge database for this topic.
B. Tasks
The following tasks provide a framework and can be adjusted during the traineeship:
- Collect, compile, and analyse data, information, knowledge, news related to the development of green hydrogen globally and domestically;
- Support related Advisor in identifying and collecting required data and information for the implementation of green hydrogen project's activities;
- Support the development of internal database on green hydrogen;
- Assist related Advisor in analysing and interpreting data and information to support the implementation of joint activities with project's counterparts;
- Assist in the preparation of Terms of Reference, Minutes of Meeting, and presentation material for green hydrogen project's activities;
- Assist in other relevant tasks as requested.
C. Required qualifications, competences, and experience
Formal Education
- Final year undergraduate / graduate student, majoring in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or any related major (recent graduates are also encouraged to apply).
Other knowledge, additional competences
- Experience in conducting desk research, formulating scientific paper, conducting data collection, wrangling, and analysis;
- Basic knowledge and familiarity on renewable energy, environmental issues, net zero emission, and other sustainable topics in Indonesia will be an advantage;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Good communication, organisational, and time management skills;
- Good command of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
- Experience in data analysis and visualisation in R, Microsoft Power BI, and other related software will be an advantage;
- Proficiency in English (writing and speaking).

Duty Station: Jakarta
Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
Expected Joining Date: a.s.a.p.
Period of Traineeship: 6 months
