Project Name: Building local capacity for communities to manage solid waste aggregation facilities and enhance reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) markets in Semarang
Position: Waste Expert
BINTARI cooperation with CCBO (Clean Cities Blue Ocean) to improve Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) in Semarang City have a goal to increase the waste recycling rate and reduce waste leakage into the ocean. TPS3R have an important role to collect and processing recycling material with contribution from the community in waste segregation and collection. The project will ensure to establish community-run operators and implement the MSWM plan from an integrated plan that is developed among actors.
Increasing the capacity of the MSWM system among actors will support establishing an integrated MSWM plan for TPS3R and waste bank operators. Then, the project will increase the capacity of TPS3R and waste bank operators to implement recycling solid waste management at a community level. Engagement of the community in waste sorting and collection in a household is a key in MSWM as well as the capacity of TPS3R operators to process and sell recycling waste material in an economic circular. MSWM improvement in the community through TPS3R believed can increase the waste recycling rate in Semarang and reduce waste leakage into the ocean. To anticipate its growth and strengthen the team, BINTARI requires a strength, dynamic, and talented Waste Management Specialist to be placed in Semarang City, with the following requirements
Roles & Responsibilities
· Communicate and coordinate with field/community facilitators in collecting data and information on the municipal waste management;
· Analyze waste management problems from various perspectives and provide the recommendation for a solution especially the technical management and funding;
· Explore innovations in the technical implementation and funding of waste management with a cross-background team;
· Transfer the waste management innovations to the field/community facilitators, including preparing training materials and learning instruments;
· Contribute to training material and deliver to TPS3R and waste bank operators;
· Prepare narative reports and deliverable related with technical material for waste management in English and Indonesian with other teams;
- Perform other duties and tasks at the request of the project leader
Expected Qualification & Experiences
· Hold a master degree in environmental engineering, environmental management, circular economy, public health, or other similar backgrounds or bachelor degree with advance waste management training will be considered;
· At least 3 years of working experience, with expertise in the technical field of waste management, circular economy, and policy development. Experiences in international working experiences will be an advantage;
· Familiar with conducting research and consultancy services in the area of waste management and circularity;
· Good analytical skills as well as excellent organizational skills; efficiency, accuracy, and high-quality delivery of all work-related output; results and performance orientation;
· High work ethics, reliability and self-motivation, proactivity, and ability to handle multiple simultaneous assignments with competing priorities under the condition of tight time schedules and fixed deadlines;
· Ability to work in an intercultural and inclusive environment and team, social competence, organizational skills, and resilience;
