Yayasan Rumah Energi (Rumah Energi) was established in 2012 in the social and humanitarian fields. The organization is mandated to contribute and create positive impacts on poverty alleviation, strengthening the livelihood of grassroots' communities, building communities' capacity on adaptation and mitigation to climate change and assisting in disaster risk reduction through innovation and shared knowledge. Our flagship program is the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program (BIRU). BIRU has facilitated the installation of 28,864 biodigesters in 16 provinces across Indonesia. The program has impacted over 163,184 people among which 28.182 people are farmers; trained 1,275 local masons; 156 local partner including Micro Finance Institutions, SMEs and universities. YRE has been diversifying its program portofolios into food security, business incubation, water access and conservation and Green Cooperative programs.  

 

In 2023, Rumah Energi has also completed projects related to water conservation and social business incubation for cacao farmers. Other projects that are currently being carried out include: the Pro Women for Renewable Energy Project, "Local Milk Sourcing" Project, "Building the Foundation for Local Cooperatives as Agents of Change in Sustainable Micro Financing" Project and "Local Cooperatives as Agents of Change for Climate Change Adaptation" Project. 

 

Adhering to the organization's aim and mission in expanding its impact to the communities, YRE establishes 2 (two) social businesses under its wings namely PT Pupuk Suburkan Negeri, an organic fertilizer company, and PT Biru Karbon Nusantara, a carbon trading company.  Now as Rumah Energi is seeking to expand and strengthen its programs, impacts and funding, the organization is looking for an Executive Director aligned  with the organization values, to lead the organization into its growth phase. The Executive Director will be based in Rumah Energi's Jakarta office.  

 

  1. About the Post  

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Advisory and Supervisory Board of the Organization, the Executive Director is responsible lead the team in formulating strategies for program design, scaling up fundraising, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and operations of the organization. The Executive Director is also expected to supervise and ensure high quality programmatic and project level deliverables and services to its beneficiaries and the donors in line with the vision and mission of the organization.  The Executive Director will oversee all operations, functions, and activities of the Organization.  The Executive Director is expected to build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to subordinate managers.  

The Executive Director is responsible for making major strategic decisions, overseeing the overall operations and resources management of Rumah Energi, and acting as the main point of communication between the Board and management. The position also encompasses the leadership and overall responsibility of executing the organization mission, business plan, oversee a robust fundraising strategy, financial management, compliance and internal controls, enhancing staff capacity, safety, and security as well as their presentation in the organization. 

 

  1. Task and Responsibilities  

The Executive Director will be tasked with the following duties:  

  • Provide full-time leadership and supervision to the Rumah Energi Directors and Managers to ensure Rumah Energi operation lead into a strong, independent and professional organization that its true to its mandate, vision, mission and values; 
  • Ensure that the organization meets all requirements as stated in the Articles of Association  and the direction set by the Board of Advisory and Board of Supervisory.  
  • Lead fundraising strategies, diversify pool of donors/funders and implement fundraising activities to make sure the organization is financially sustainable and independent 
  • Oversee and ensure that operating guidelines for the organization are implemented and regularly updated to meet the high standard operation of a modern organization 
  • Accountable for an efficient organixzation structure and task division, allowing organization to systematically meet programs and projects demands and obligations including working with partners, initiating, implementing, and finalizing prjects and programs, reporting, donor/funder liaison and M&E 
  • As shareholder representing Rumah Energi, provide strategic directions to the management of PT Pupuk Suburkan Negeri and PT Biru Karbon Nusantara through the General Meeting of Shareholders 
  • Lead fundraising plan and oversee business operations of Rumah Energi  
  • Represent the organization in stakeholder networks, meetings, and events, promoting the organization in a way it enhances the good reputation of the organization and the trust of beneficiaries, government, donors and stakeholders  
  • Liaise and supervise Program Director to engage in project and programs strategy in a professional and accountable way, ensuring that the organization is financially and managerially transparent and accountable to donors and other stakeholders.  
  • Accountable for the external communication strategy of the organization.  
  • Ensuring effective team-work, building organization culture and maintaining values that are professional, impact-driven and independent; 
  • Develops new ideas, guide innovations and scalingup impacts together with the team to be formulated into a strategic and annual plan to be pitch to the Boards for approval Ensures effective collaboration and coordination with stakeholders, partners and government-departments at all levels ranging from international to national. 
  • Carry out trouble-shooting and remedial actions on identified issues and crisis management as necessary. 

 


Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience: 

 

The Executive Director is expected to have the following qualifications:  

  • Minimum education background is master's degree in development, preferably in fields of inclusive business or renewable energy.  
  • Proven experience and track record of at least 10 years of experience in extensive management experience at a senior management level in NGO setting.  
  • Practical knowledge and proven track record in in organizational development, including financial management, institutional fundraising, donor-management.  
  • Experience in leading teams by coaching, guiding and motivating team members.   
  • Practical knowledge in program management/program cycle. 
  • Possess knowledge and practical experience in organizational development.  
  • Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management, and reporting. 
  • Have an exposure in business development. 
  • Has previous experience leading the review and reformulation of strategic plans and proven abilities in decision-making and problem-solving. 

 

  1. Term of Employment  

 

This position is a full-time position of 40 hours per week and based in Jakarta Indonesia,  

YRE offers a one-year contract.
