The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations on behalf of the German Government.
ASEAN Municipal Solid Waste Enhancement (AMUSE) Project supported by the Federal Government of Germany and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) aims to contribute to improve environmental quality in medium-sized cities in the ASEAN region through strengthening the competences for optimizing waste disposal and recycling in medium-sized tourist cities. The project applies a holistic, multi-level, and multi-stakeholder approach. The beneficiaries also include national and local tourism associations and local tourism operators. The project involves also tourism stakeholders concerning prevention, disposal and recycling of waste in their environment of action.
The project duration is three years (July 2022 - June 2025) and has three (3) output levels, including:
- Regional level: Developing a new ASEAN-wide digital knowledge platform provides sustainable knowledge, training, dialogue formats, and standards for optimizing municipal waste management and recycling for public and private stakeholders at national and local levels in ASEAN countries;
- National level: Supporting medium-sized tourist cities in the implementation of sustainable waste management by the respective responsible ministries in cooperation with tourism associations and other national actors active in the waste and tourism sector; and
- Municipal level: Providing field-tested options for optimizing municipal waste management and recycling in terms of sustainability and gender sensitivity in medium-sized tourist cities which are documented for further dissemination.
At regional level, we will engage an external Consultant to develop a regional digital platform which will collate and showcase data, publications and examples of good practices in waste management in relation to sustainable tourism that built-in based on the existing ASEAN Environment Knowledge Hub. The digital platform will serve as repository of knowledge, discussion forum and networking. The platform shall enable target group (i.e., relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, tourism operators, and NGOs) to easily access valuable information and insights to support their job; to connect experts to generate and incubate ideas to drive improvement; and to help target group to stay up to date on policies and procedures pertaining to Waste Management and Sustainable Tourism.
In order to support our team in working with the Consultant by expanding our expertise to include IT knowledge, we are seeking 1 (one) qualified Indonesian candidate for the following position:
Trainee for IT Support to Regional Digital Platform
A. Responsibilities
The traineeship aims to support AMUSE project team to successfully implement the project and to achieve the above-mentioned objectives, with a specific focus on the development of the regional digital platform. The traineeship program will provide benefits to deepen knowledge on international cooperation in general and digital knowledge management in the topics of sustainable waste management, sustainable tourism, circular economy among others in particular. It can also broaden his/her understanding on regional cooperation in the ASEAN region.
B. Tasks
The trainee shall support in the development of the regional knowledge platform with key tasks include:
- Support AMUSE regional team in working closely with the consultant team and partners to develop the regional digital knowledge platform
- Assist AMUSE team in further regional activities, including preparation, implementation, finalization, and documentation of technical workshops/webinars/conference/meetings and related communication activities
- Support any other assignments within the scope as requested by the AMUSE regional team
C. Required qualifications, competences, and experience.
Formal Education
- Bachelor or MSc degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, or IT-related field
- Experience with digital platform or information systems, e.g., website, WordPress, Learning Management System (LMS), social media, collaboration tools, etc
- Having good administrative skills and detailed oriented
- Strong interest to work on issues related to sustainable development (e.g. Solid Waste Management, Sustainable tourism, Circular Economy)
- Good communication, organisational and project management skills
- Good command of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), adobe, and familiar with other graphic design tools.
- Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills is a MUST.
- Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment.

Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
