[newdevjobsindo] Discovery Academy Leader for Oxford-University Clinical Research Unit Indonesia (OUCRU Indonesia)

As of September 2022, the Oxford University Clinical Research Unit in Indonesia (OUCRU Indonesia) operates in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia after having been known as the Eijkman Oxford Clinical Research Unit (EOCRU) since 2008. OUCRU Indonesia is part of the Africa Asia Programme Vietnam, sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, and governed by the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, United Kingdom. OUCRU in Indonesia and Vietnam, along with their many local and international partners, conduct biomedical, clinical, and epidemiological research on infections impacting the health of people living in Southeast Asia and beyond.

In conducting their work in Indonesia, OUCRU Indonesia is assisted by Alliance for Emerging and Re-emerging Disease Threats in Asia Foundation (ALERTAsia), a local foundation assisting in research grant management and capacity building for local researchers.

Through ALERTAsia, we are seeking a communications professional with some experience working in the nonprofit sector to run the position of "Discovery Research Academy Leader".  S/he will be responsible for leading Indonesia-based delivery of a new and exciting collaborative project between OUCRU Indonesia, OUCRU-Vietnam, and Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) in Thailand. S/he will deliver the Academy programme in close collaboration with two other Discovery Research Academy Leaders based in Thailand (MORU) and Vietnam (OUCRU-VN). S/he should be a PhD-holder wishing to diversify their skillset within a research support role. The Academy will enroll early- and mid-career post-doctoral researchers from our networks across Asian LMICs to participate in bespoke workshops, have fully embedded mentorship from senior Wellcome Asia and Africa Programme scientists and grant writing experts to develop subsequent grant applications. They will have access to seed awards to generate preliminary data and collaborations that will support Wellcome applications. Our Academy goals are to empower Asian LMIC researchers to apply for Wellcome Discovery (and other) research awards, support local partners to develop their own research capacity, and grow a strong and engaged research community in the region.  This position will be supervised by the Director of OUCRU Indonesia, closely assisted by the Regional Academic Training Leader, to ensure seamless coordination of the Discovery Research Academy across the region.
