The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. In Indonesia, GIZ is implementing various energy projects under the umbrella of the Energy Program Indonesia/ASEAN.
GIZ is currently implementing a programme Sustainable Energy Transition in Indonesia (SETI), funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the programme aims to support the decarbonisation of the energy sector by working with the private sector and on the city level to develop concrete technology solutions.
Under Output II of the SETI programme, Sustainable Energy Finance addresses the challenges in energy transition finance to accelerate energy transition initiatives in Indonesia. SETI Finance output will mainly facilitate investment or transaction for selected private sectors on built environment as well as industry. It includes mapping and optimizing relevant fund sources as well as related finance instruments, provide advisory on relevant innovative finance instruments and schemes, finance structuring, and other related activities.
The project objective is to be achieved through four outputs:
· Output I: Strengthening the institutional and regulatory framework towards an energy transition
· Output II: Strengthening the public and private financing instruments for the RE and EE project implementation
· Output III: Increasing the capacities of Indonesian Industry for an energy transition
· Output IV: Increasing the capacities in selected cities to develop a local sustainable energy ecosystem
To support implementation of the programme in Indonesia, we seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for:
Traineeship on Sustainable Energy Finance to Support RE/EE Implementation
The traineeship is to support the implementation of SETI programme activities mainly on Energy Transition Finance topic to support project management tasks. The traineeship program will provide benefits to deepen the trainee's knowledge and skills on Energy Transition Finance efforts in the power sector and practical experience on the working environment in international cooperation. It can also broaden his/her understanding on energy transition in Indonesia and the ASEAN region.
Under direct supervision of the Energy Transition Advisor for SETI, the trainee shall support in the preparation and implementation of SETI programme activities in coordination with Advisors and the SETI Consortium. The support will be needed for:
• Activities to support the implementation of the programme outputs with focus on Energy Transition Finance topic especially on sustainable energy finance including innovative financing schemes, innovative financing instruments, RE/EE Financing, and other relevant topics such as carbon pricing;
The Trainee will perform the following tasks:
- Support in preparation and implementation of Energy Transition Finance activities, such as innovative financing schemes, innovative financing instruments, RE/EE financing, and not limited to other topics such as carbon pricing mechanism;
- Support in the development of knowledge products (such as fact sheets, policy brief, reports, etc) related to Energy Transition Finance topics by compiling data and proofreading;
- Assist the Output II pillar in updating relevant data, studies, and supporting documents for activity implementation as well as collaborating with other GIZ projects or other donors;
- Coordinate with the communications team in supporting materials for knowledge products or contents related to the Sustainable Energy Finance topics;
- Assist in conducting monitoring and analysis of Sustainable Energy Finance policies in Indonesia;
- Prepare minutes of meetings and assist regular discussion with the SETI team, consortium, partners, counterparts, or other donors if needed;
- Support the team in conducting events such as workshops, trainings, and dialogues by maintaining close communication with event management team and other stakeholders;
- Support the team in arranging post-event reporting and materials for results-based monitoring.
- Assist the team in performing administrative duties and other tasks.
- Fresh graduate, Bachelor's degree or final year master's student in economics, public policy, sustainable energy finance, climate finance, environmental sciences, international relations or other relevant fields;
- Basic knowledge and familiarity on sustainable energy finance and environmental issues particularly in Indonesia;
- Basic knowledge in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Financing;
- Experience in conducting desk research, working on event management, and working on data analysis will be an advantage;
- Experience in government relations will be an advantage.
- Good communication, organisational and project management skills
- Good command of Ms. Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills
- Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment.
