BACKGROUND
To reduce the leakage of plastic waste into the ocean, WWF Global has launched the Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) Pillar which aims to collaborate with priority cities around the world to stop the leakage of plastic waste into nature.
To achieve this goal, WWF-Indonesia, with the support of WWF-Norway and TVA Norway, has collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Depok City Government, and Bogor City Government to reduce plastic consumption and manage plastic waste. In its implementation, WWF-Indonesia provides support to strategic partners for plastic waste management, such as Waste Banks, NGOs, Start-Ups, Companies, Associations, and other stakeholders. To increase the synergy of plastic waste management in the City of Jakarta, Depok City, and Bogor City, the WWF-Indonesia PSC Program is opening proposals for developing an initial baseline tool or methodology that will enable cities to conduct self-assessments of their own cities' waste and plastic baselines with little to zero cost. The intention is not to replace existing methodologies that already exist but rather to encourage cities to take the first step to understand their waste and plastic baseline to be better informed about what additional baseline investments are needed.
