Summary
Solstice Institute (www.solsticeinstitute.com) and the USAID IUWASH Tangguh Activity are partnering to improve water service delivery, access to water and sanitation infrastructure, and promote sustainable water management practices across Indonesia. As a Sanitation Specialist, you will work as part of the Solstice team on the USAID IUWASH Tangguh Activity providing expertise and technical support in data-driven management of sanitation service provision by utilities and government agencies. You will expand and enhance the mWater asset management system to include sanitation asset definitions and service levels and develop monitoring tools at the Kabupaten/Kota level. Your role will involve training and providing technical support to early adopter partners and helping local government and service providers in surveying and technical assessments to better identify and serve customers. This work will directly contribute to the USAID IUWASH Tangguh Activity's goals of improving sanitation services throughout Indonesia.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the IUWASH Tangguh project team, local partners, and Solstice international staff to develop and integrate sanitation service provision into the mWater platform, including scheduled and on-call services, service periods, customer classifications, and rates.
- Develop process monitoring tools within the mWater platform that ensure safely managed sanitation.
- Expand the mWater Asset Data Standard to incorporate sanitation infrastructure, service zones, and service levels.
- Conduct an assessment to select the pilot location for applying the asset management system for sanitation infrastructure, taking into account that types of operators have different mechanisms in how they utilize assets.
- Become a proficient user of the mWater data platform, particularly in aspects relevant to sanitation asset management, household surveys for customers of sanitation services, and sanitation index data.
- Develop comprehensive training materials, reports, and guidelines that cater specifically to sanitation asset management and service level monitoring.
- Conduct training sessions, facilitate workshops, and provide ongoing technical support to project team members, local government, utility partners, and other stakeholders across Indonesia to ensure the effective use and integration of new tools and features.
- Travel frequently to all provinces of Indonesia to support workshops and training events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field related to sanitation, such as public health, environmental engineering, or environmental sciences
- Experience with monitoring and data analysis related to sanitation services at the household and community level
- Experience training, teaching, or mentoring groups of people to increase their technical skills. Experience in multimedia training content development is desirable but not required
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between technology experts and professionals with management, customer service, scientific, and business backgrounds
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment
- A high degree of professionalism in your written, verbal, and informal communications
