Summary
Solstice Institute (www.solsticeinstitute.com) and the USAID IUWASH Tangguh Activity are partnering to improve water service delivery, access to water and sanitation infrastructure, and promote sustainable water management practices across Indonesia. As a Training Specialist, you will work as part of the Solstice team on the USAID IUWASH Tangguh Activity providing training, expertise, and technical support in data-driven management to utilities and government agencies. You will become an expert user of the digital tools for water utilities that our team has developed in the free and open-access mWater digital platform. The tools focus on improving specific management practices that are critical to delivering safe and reliable drinking water, including physical asset management, water quality monitoring, quantity and continuity of water services, non-revenue water reduction, and customer service. Your work will help us improve and scale up the use of these tools by providing training and technical support to participating Perusahaan Daerah Air Minums (PDAMs) in all provinces of Indonesia.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and training of digital tools for PDAMs on the mWater platform, focusing on water quality and quantity monitoring and asset management
- Develop high-quality written and multimedia training materials, reports, and guidelines
- Provide hands-on training and technical support in using mWater tools to project team members across Indonesia, local government and utility partners, and other stakeholders
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the use of Water Quality Monitoring and Asset Management tools, starting with the process of data collection, data input, data analysis, and reading and using the results of data analysis.
- Become an expert user of the mWater data platform, especially the digital tools for utilities management
- Travel frequently to project sites to support workshops and trainings, collect user feedback, and identify lessons learned to feed into improvements to our platform
Qualifications
- You must have: a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a water or information technology-related field such as engineering, data analytics, statistics, or environmental science
- Strong experience training, teaching, or mentoring groups of people to increase their technical skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between technology experts and professionals with management, customer service, scientific, and business backgrounds
- A high degree of professionalism in your written, verbal, and informal communications, with proven skills in developing and delivering clear and comprehensive training materials
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment
- Familiarity or experience in using data analysis, GIS, or business analytics software
Preference will be given to candidates with experience at the intersection of data analytics and water service delivery, particularly those who have worked directly with utilities or other service providers.
