The Portfolio Swisscontact in Indonesia works to strengthen systems related to skills development, enterprise development, value chain development and regenerative agriculture by working closely with the private, public, research and academia and the civil society sectors. Among them are Skills for Competitiveness (S4C), Sustainable Tourism Education and Development (STED), Leuser Aceh Singkil Landscape (LASR), the Swiss Import Promotion Project (SIPPO). The Position The Country Director will provide technical and administrative leadership and expertise over the country portfolio. S/he will be responsible for tasks related to a) donor liaison on management and technical matters, b) management of all aspects of country operations including, but not limited to, technical, administrative, operational, financial and logistical management, and c) S/he will take a leadership role in coordination among projects and key stakeholders, while contributing to the growth of the Swisscontact portfolio and profile in Indonesia. A special focus of this position will be to develop a pipeline of new projects with a diverse range of funders and funding mechanisms with a focus on private sector engagement and public private partnerships. |
Task, Authority & Responsibility
· Lead, guide, support the country team. · Represent SC Indonesia towards external stakeholders. · Develop and foster contacts and cooperation with institutions from the Government, private and non-profit sectors. · Update the country strategy in the context of Swisscontact's Strategy 2028. · Conduct regular review of the country program's progress and constraints. · Analyse and synthesise country program outcomes and contribute to the further development of concepts. · Maintain and update structures and instruments for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. · Support the Project Managers to achieve qualitative and quantitative outcomes and impacts. · Ensure that gender equality and social inclusion, conflict sensitive program management, and environmental sustainability aspects are mainstreamed and achieved. · Establish an adaptive programme management process. |
Employee Requirements
· Minimum 12 years of progressive professional work experience and at least 5 years of experience at a strategic leadership role. · Master's degree (or higher) in a field relevant to the country programme and portfolio. · Track record in designing, implementing, or managing projects in the fields of skills development, agricultural value chains or SME development. · Experience in managing medium to large-scale development cooperation programmes, especially aiming at achieving systemic results. · Lead a diverse team and build teams. · Excellent analytical, negotiating, problem solving and decision-making skills. · Manage working relationship with diverse stakeholders including foundations, companies and philanthropists. · Experience of working in fragile conditions and ability to handle stressful situations. · Experience of working in Asia, and the region, will be an asset. · Advanced communication skills in English (verbal, writing, listening and presentation) with excellent computer literacy in MS Office programs, specifically MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Employment start date, contract duration and place of work The employment is planned to start in Q3/Q4 2024. We provide an initial contract of 2 years with options to extend. The position will be based in Jakarta with visits to project's field locations within Indonesia.
