Terumbu Karang Sehat Indonesia Program Lead

(Code: TeKSI-PL)

 

 

Konservasi Indonesia (KI) is one of the convening agents for an innovative program to support coral-positive businesses and change the paradigm of conservation financing. This multi-year program will manage and advise on a portfolio of grants and investments that directly support coral and ocean conservations. The program under KI will be launched with geographic focus on the Bird's Head Seascape, Lesser Sunda Seascape and Eastern Indian Ocean Seascape (Fisheries Management Areas of 572). Projects within this program portfolio will be varied and innovative, exploring revenue streams that provide sustainable financing for critically important coral reef ecosystems and will include engagement with tourism, seaweed aquaculture, MPA management and may expand to fisheries and other sectors assuming a clear link to coral reef conservation.

 

We seek an experienced Program Lead based in Indonesia to direct and manage the Terumbu Karang Sehat Indonesia (TeKSI) program across our focal geographies. Manages all aspects of the project life cycle including project planning, work plans, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on deliverables and project status. The TeKSI program Lead will be ultimately responsible for the full program, coordination with government and other TeKSI stakeholders at a national and sub-national level, communication with Conservation International leads and donor engagement. S/he will represent KI as a key technical resource and build alliances/engage key external stakeholders including government and NGO officials, donors, and others critical to project success.

 

The TeKSI program Lead will ensure compliance with project standards, donor requirements and project alignment with institutional priorities. S/he will advise on adaptive management strategies and capacity building needs to ensure project success. S/he will manage and monitor project budgets and write donor reports as required.  Collaborate on and lead efforts to secure project funding, expand project pipeline and manage funding relationships with key partners.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Lead TeKSI program implementation in three geographic priorities

·       Lead communications and collaboration with other partners particularly GFCR convening partner

·       Lead, represent KI and arrange regular stakeholder coordination meetings with government and NGO partners

·       Ensure TeKSI program is implemented in according to the project workplan, but facilitate two-way communication with implementing teams to adapt the project to have greatest impact for coral conservation

·       Play primary role in liaising with KI, CI and the GFCR secretariate to ensure the priorities are aligned with realities in the field.

·       Facilitate budget or programmatic changes with the donor, adhering to donor requirements.

·       Lead development of Phase III projects that integrate coral conservation with private sector investment

·       Provide recommendation to KI long term strategies

·       Play active roles on fundraising for ensuring project sustainability and impact achievement

 

PEOPLE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

       Manages the TeKSI program budget in Indonesia but decisions that bind or commit KI must be approved by immediate supervisor.

       Manage public funds, monitor results, and recommend follow-up action. Ensure compliance with donor.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor's Degree and 15 years or more related experience. Advanced degree preferred.

·       10 years' experience supervising and motivating others including multi-disciplinary teams. 

·       Direct project management experience, preferably in development and business sectors.

·       Excellent technical and analytical skills. 

·       Excellent organization and time management skills.

·       Team player and able to work effectively with diverse works groups in a multicultural environment.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff and partners.

·       A record of success in influencing and partnering with key stakeholders and national and/or local government.

·       Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, set priorities, and deliver quality results

·       Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and under minimal supervision. 

·       Professional proficiency in written and spoken English

 


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

·       Background or strong understanding of financial systems and private sector investment in Indonesia

·       Proven knowledge of coral reef ecosystems, threats and management systems in eastern Indonesia

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

·       Based in the KI Jakarta with frequent travel to project site and other office locations.  

·       Comfortable working out of doors for extended periods.

·       Ability to work extended work hours to meet project deadlines.
