Background

Based on Yayasan Project HOPE's June 2022 baseline results, 32% of pregnant women experience anxiety, and 18% experience depression, which can lead to adverse outcomes. Psychological support for pregnant women, including counseling services, is vital. Unfortunately, 81% of pregnant women accessing Maternal and Child Health (MCH) services have never received mental health support.
The Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 97 of 2014 includes mental health services as part of antenatal care provided by healthcare professionals, including midwives, nurses, and doctors, to pregnant and postpartum women. Health cadres are also encouraged to assess the mental health issues of pregnant and postpartum women and refer those with suspected mental health problems. This is outlined in two policy documents: the Integrated Antenatal Care Guidelines and the Posyandu Implementation Guidelines for Health Cadres. However, despite these policies and guidelines, healthcare professionals have stated in our baseline study that they still need training in mental health support.

Methodology

The evaluation will employ a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods.
The selection of online, offline, or on-site approaches for each activity will be determined based on the nature of the task, logistical considerations, and the most effective means of achieving the desired outcomes.
