CLIMATE IMPACT ASSOCIATE
Yayasan Indonesia Cerah (CERAH) is a non-profit organization in Indonesia that promotes the country's energy transition policy agenda. CERAH comprises experts in the energy sector, communication, and campaigning. To achieve its goals, it collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including the community, research institutions, the government, and private sector partners.
To assist the ever-growing team, CERAH is looking for a Climate Impact Associate to support our Climate Justice team.
She/he will work closely with the other Cerah Team members to support the effective and efficient operations management, finance, and project administration within Cerah.
As a Climate Impact Associate, the work of the employee will include
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Commstrat: Lead the development of climate impact issues into the emerging climate change narrative across various channels including print, digital, and social media.
Crafting materials: Working closely with other workstreams and partners to conceptualize, write, edit, and distribute effective communications materials such as (but not limited to) press releases, external and internal QAs, talking points, briefing papers, TOR, reports, and other; this includes production of the media event, social media, and other digital content, in collaboration with another workstream, global networks, and partners.
Analysis and monitoring: Using the tools provided, collaborate with other workstreams to offer analysis of issue conversations, media, and digital trends, as well as breaking news moments relevant to our narrative, audiences, and targets, identifying potential climate impact narration opportunities and proposing framing aligned with the workstream goal.
Media Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and other news decision-makers via media visits, informal briefings, media forums, information provision, etc. To encourage them to credible climate impact issues.
Community engagement: Identify, Develop, and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, climate experts, partners think tanks, Civil Society Organisations (CSO), and other climate movements. To encourage them to become credible voices with main messages tailored to narratives aligned with common goals.
Other Assignments: Other relevant tasks requested by the Climate Justices Program Manager and Executive Director.
Requirements:
Candidates must be passionate about environmental issues, particularly climate change;
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related fields;
At least 2 years experience in media/communications work or journalism;
Knowledge and/or experience in developing and managing the implementation of digital or campaign communications strategies;
Experience in managing projects/working in a team
Possess strong organizational experience, communication skills, and the ability to work independently and remotely;
Creative and has an eye for detail;
Excellent command of English and Indonesian, both orally and in writing.
The position is urgently required. She/he will report directly to the Climate Justices Program Manager, Yayasan Indonesia Cerah (CERAH). This position will be for six (6) months, from October 2024 to March 2025, Preferred location Jakarta, Indonesia, Desired Start Date as soon as available. The remuneration is based on qualification, competency, and salary history.
