As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following position for our office in Kupang, NTT:

 

Field Livelihood Coordinator

(Code: FL-C)

 

 

 

Konservasi Indonesia (KI) is seeking a qualified and motivated individual as Field Livelihood Coordinator to implement various ecoregion wide activities related to livelihood (NTB, NTT and Maluku). This includes preparing livelihood related activities for seaweed farming, BUMDES and ecotourism.

 

He/she will build a seaweed farmer database with accurate data, develop work plans, and monthly progress report to the Conservation Planning Manager. In addition to the seaweed relevant activities, the incumbent will also be involved in whale shark ecotourism related activities in Teluk Saleh, NTB. This position will provide data information collection to the Conservation Planning Manager and manage the implementation of sustainable livelihoods and green economic sector activities in the field. This position will be based in Kupang and work closely with other KI staff in Bali and Jakarta.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.     Project Development and Implementation

·       Conduct initial assessments in the target areas to collect necessary data from villages in East Sumba (Seaweed) and Teluk Saleh (whale shark).

·       Conduct program orientation sessions in selected villages to gather information on community acceptance and support for program implementation from the general public and relevant stakeholders at the village levels both in East Sumba and Teluk Saleh.

·       Develop a work plan, training curriculum, and prepare the necessary materials to train seaweed farmers and whale shark related activities with the aim of improving the economic status of the community in the target area, based on the assessment results.

·       Organize Training of Trainer sessions for selected seaweed farmers.

·       Responsible for establishing demonstration plots of seaweed farms in strategically chosen areas to serve as examples for the general public.

·       Conduct training and mentoring for association management on leadership, organizational management, annual work plan development, bookkeeping, financial management, monitoring, supervision, and the internal control system for selected BUMDES.

·       Collaborate with BUMDES executives to carry out internal audits, ensuring the completeness of association documents, member documents, updating the association's reporting database for program plans and achievements, seaweed farmer production reports, SOP and SK updates. Prepare internal audit reports in preparation for the annual external audit.

·       Work with BLUD in Saleh Bay area, NTB, to develop community-based whale shark ecotourism.

 

2.     Project Engagement

·       Collaborate with DKP NTT, DKP NTB, BKKPN Kupang Dinas Perikanan Sumba Timur and other relevant stakeholders in project locations.

·       Support and organize multi-stakeholder forum events based on themes in the field.

·       Be responsible for managing engagement, organizing events, implementing activities according to the approved schedule and budget, and monitoring and reporting to the Conservation Planning Manager.

·       Provide support for other components related to livelihood activities by sharing knowledge and suggestions.

·       Identify potential strategic activities to expand the program's scope.

 

 

PEOPLE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Does not manage staff but may assist other staff to collect data and information and implementing relevant policy activities.

·       Maintain and establish good relationships with authorities, local, provincial and national government agencies, private sectors, NGO's and other stakeholders.

·       Organize coordination meetings with government and traditional institutions at local, provincial and district levels.

·       Prepares technical reports on a regular basis and as necessary the policy technical reports and paper works.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor's degree preferred in biology, marine biology, or natural resources management related science, or candidates with technical experiences in livelihood related activities with at least 5 years of experience.

·       Understanding of seaweed farming issues at regional level including knowledge of community livelihood (supply and value chain, market development) and community-led conservation initiatives.

·       Experiences in community development and implemented training activities.

·       Ability to work and communicate effectively in cross-cultural situations with a wide range of people.

·       Flair for diplomacy; negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, negotiating, develop networking and facilitation skills at all levels.

·       Demonstrated competency in field team management and multi stake holder facilitation.

·       Contribute to efficient and effective operation of the project and to positively influence the team work and to adapt to changes in work load and positively influence the project team and able to work under pressure and with multiple deadlines

·       Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills in local language, Bahasa Indonesia and English.

·       Computer literate with experience on electronic communications (i.e. E-mail, Internet, etc.) as a user including a proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

·       The successful candidate will be based in Kupang.

·       Ability to work an irregular schedule including weekends, travel extensively and on short notice, when required.

·       Ability to work in a remote location for periods of time, when required

·       Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
