Background

The five-year, USAID SELARAS activity will address the limiting conditions for better solid waste management services in areas where USG investments can significantly reduce ocean plastic pollution while also partnering with private sector enterprises to scale interventions. Achieving this mutual goal will require a diverse approach to:

1)  strengthen solid waste sector governance and financing;

2)  improve and expand solid waste management services;

3)  strengthen local markets and businesses;

4)  improve social behaviors and practices; and

5)  improve systems for tracking and reducing methane emission.

 

USAID SELARAS will work at national, provincial, and local levels of government. Partnering with key institutions and stakeholders, the Activity will provide timely, relevant, and foundational support to enable the GOI to make progress towards its development objectives of having 100 percent of solid waste managed by 2024 and reduction of marine plastic pollution by 70 percent by 2025.

 

USAID SELARAS is looking for Individual Consultant for: Statistician.

Purpose

The STTA Statistician will provide expert statistical analysis and advisory support for quantitative survey data and study findings related to solid waste management (SWM), including but not limited to: (a) access to waste collection services survey; (b) waste facility management survey; (c) waste data survey; etc. He/she will also support the quantitative metrics analysis from qualitative research on SWM such as Local Institutional Capacity Assessment on SWM and formative research on social behavioral changes on SWM. The Statistician will work closely with the MEL team and other Objective Team in USAID SELARAS to provide technical advisory capacity for analyzing survey data, identify trends, and provide insights into waste management practices and outcomes as well as to ensure the Data Quality in USAID SELARAS properly managed and implemented. The role will contribute to the ongoing study and will ensure that data analysis supports the project's objectives of enhancing waste management systems and reducing plastic pollution as well as organic waste.

Required Qualifications:

-        A graduate degree (S2) in Statistics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, or a related field.

-        Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with a focus on statistical analysis in environmental or waste management projects.

-        Strong proficiency in analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable recommendations.

-        Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Indonesian solid waste legislation, regulations, and standards.

-        Advanced proficiency in English and Indonesian (verbal and written).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Experience on donor-funded projects, preferably USAID-funded projects.

 

Period of Performance:

The estimated period of performance is 4 months.
