In Indonesia, GIZ's Energy Programme acts as trusted partner and technical advisor to the Government of Indonesia for the transition towards a sustainable energy system. The Programme works across five thematic areas:
- Power system transformation
- Sustainable energy finance

Within the Energy Programme, the German-Indonesian Energy Cooperation Hub ("Energy Hub") aims to bundle all energy projects funded by Germany and implemented in Indonesia, with the objective to support portfolio development and strategy building, joint representation and communication. It shall further support the implementation of the Indonesian Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). With Germany taking up the leadership role for the JETP, a JETP Support Unit will be established, to support the German embassy and relevant Indonesian Government Partners in the implementation of the JETP.
We seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for:
JETP Advisor
A. Tasks & Responsibilities
The JETP Advisor (Secondment to CMEA – Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs) shall be part of the GIZ JETP Support Unit, based at CMEA premises in Jakarta, as part of the CMEA JETP team. He/she will work directly with CMEA and possibly other Indonesian ministries on the facilitation and implementation of the JETP and support the linkage to the German embassy and other IPG members. The role will further be connected to the GIZ Energy Programme, and act as liaison between CMEA and the Energy Hub Team.
- Provision of Energy Expertise to support Indonesia's Energy Transition and the JETP: Support to technical studies related to the energy transition (coal phase out, captive power plants, renewable energy, etc.)
- Provision of policy support provided by CMEA such as sectoral analysis and policy analysis and preparations within CMEA (sector studies, background papers, policy briefs, recommendations, reports, factsheets etc.)
- Support to the smooth running of the revised Task Force on Energy Transition and Green Economy and RUPTL project realisation through matchmaking
- Event and meeting support within CMEA to facilitate the JETP through organisation of events and meetings with the German embassy, the IPG and other JETP government partners, and the follow-up
- Support liaison from CMEA with other important GoI ministries, including MEMR and other units
- Develop and maintain a strong network across all relevant JETP stakeholders within CMEA, towards other GoI ministries, in particular MEMR, as well as implementers, and IPG
- Be part of the GIZ JETP Support Unit, ensure information exchange and collaboration on all aspects related to JETP support
- Provide knowledge management and public relations support: distilling key messages and news and supporting transparency of communication about JETP towards the public
- A university degree in energy, science, engineering, economics, or other fields relevant to the energy transition
- At least 4 year working experience in related field.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the Indonesian energy system, its stakeholder landscape and its policy planning process.
- Experience working in international collaboration context highly preferred
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and the ability to build professional networks.
- Demonstrated ability to work with data and understand complex systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Indonesia.
- Capacity to present ideas clearly and engage with diverse audiences.
- Ability to grasp the big picture while managing detailed tasks.
- Conceptual and strategic thinking skills are a plus, but training will be provided.
- Familiarity with energy system, climate, or development cooperation is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with energy system, power system, climate, or economic models/tools is an advantage but not mandatory.
