SERVICE PROVIDER AS LOCAL FACILITATOR FOR GENDER AWARENESS TRAINING IN COOPERATIVE GAHARU 100

In Indonesia, SNV started to operate in 2013, focusing on agrifood, energy, and water sector. The interventions in the agri-food sector utilize a productive and resilient landscape, inclusive market access and green investment, healthy diets for all, and youth employment opportunity approaches. In addition to these approaches, there are cross-cutting issues including climate change, good governance, as well as gender and social inclusion.
UL Smallholder Hub Project
Smallholder Hub is a multiyear project that is being implemented in Indonesia, funded by Unilever. The project aims to comply with No Deforestation, No Peatland, and No exploitation (NDPE) and sustainability principles and align with Unilever's Compass goals, including implementing Regenerative Agriculture (RegAg) Principles, Institutional Business Development, Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment, and Living Income Program. The project is implemented in 7 districts of Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Simalungun, Asahan, Batubara, Labuhanbatu Selatan, and Tapanuli Selatan in North Sumatra Province. For 5 years, SNV aims to empower 20,000 independent farmers, of whom 14,000 will be RSPO certified. SNV will also establish and strengthen 40 cooperatives, 40 ICS units, 400 farmer groups, and 70 women groups in gender awareness, financial literacy, and leadership.
HORAS Smallholder Hub is in the middle of the 2nd implementation year and partnering with local CSOs and technical consultants for the program implementation, including: (1) conducting gender awareness training for 2,500 farmers and spouse; (2) conducting and monitoring household dialogue; (3) training 400 women for economic empowerment; and (4) establishing and/or strengthening 15 women groups. To support these activities, SNV seeks to engage a Local Facilitator to deliver gender awareness training and household dialogue coaching for farmers and spouse members of Cooperative Gaharu 100. This facilitation service is urgently needed due to the changing of beneficiaries mapping by other CSO and affect the beneficiaries target from the initial design for the second year. The Local Facilitator will be based in Simalungun District, with frequent travels to the village area.
Objectives
The procurement of this Local Facilitator is to support the project implementation by delivering Gender Awareness (GA) Training and Household Dialogue (HHD) for the members of Cooperative Gaharu 100 in Simalungun District.
Key Activities
- Deliver Gender Awareness (GA) Training for 500 farmers and family/spouse of Cooperative based on GESI Module, allocated for two-days consecutive training;
- Facilitate coaching household dialogue (HHD) for farmers and family who are already trained GA;
- Collaborate with Cooperatives Management to map the prioritised village;
- Coordinate with Village Government before conducting the training and coaching;
- Collaborate with Database Administrator for the training and coaching database of 500 farmers and family.
Deliverables
- 500 farmers and family/spouse, member of Cooperative Gaharu 100, are trained Gender Awareness and coached Household Dialogue (HHD) based on SNV's module.
Timeline
The assignment will be carried out for 4 months, from April 1st – July 31st ,2025

Qualifications (selection criteria)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with minimum of 2 years of working experience in community development
- Experience in gender equality and/or women empowerment programme is preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Demonstrate ability to plan, implementation and manage field activities
- Have strong interpersonal communication, leadership skills, problem-solving skills and results orientation
- Good local language and understanding local culture is desirable
- Proficiency using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and report writing
- Preferrable domicile in Simalungun District
Budget
Payment for service fee will be made in monthly-basis by submitting of summary detailing deliverables achieved within the month, reviewed by PFO GESI/WEE and approved by Project Manager.
