In Indonesia, GIZ's Energy Programme Indonesia acts as trusted partner and technical advisor to the Government of Indonesia for the transition towards a sustainable energy system.
The Energy Transition Cluster of GIZ Indonesia works across five thematic areas:

Within the Energy Programme, the German-Indonesian Energy Cooperation Hub ("Energy Hub") aims to bundle all energy projects funded by Germany and implemented in Indonesia, with the objective to support portfolio development and strategy building, joint representation and communication. It further supports the implementation of the Indonesian Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). With Germany fulfilling the co-leadership role for the JETP, a JETP Support Unit has been established within the Energy Hub, to support the German embassy and relevant Indonesian Government Partners in the implementation of the JETP.
The Energy Transition Advisor shall be part of the JETP Support Unit / Energy Hub and provide technical and strategic advice to the Indonesian government, the German embassy, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and other IPG members.
For this posting, expertise in the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency and/or just transition is sought after.
We seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for:
Energy Transition Advisor
A. Tasks & Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the JETP SU coordinator, support the German embassy in their JETP co-lead role through IPG/GFANZ meeting coordination, analysis and research, and preparation of background materials, and any ad-hoc requests
- Advise and support the political partner(s), particularly CMEA and MEMR as part of SATGAS TEH, on any requests related to energy transition policies and realisation of JETP, in close liaison with the Energy Programme's Policy Unit
- Monitor and analyse current and new relevant legislation and regulations in Indonesia and globally as well as their impact as basis for the advisory work
- Conceptualisation, design, preparation, organisation, facilitation and documentation of events, workshops and conferences as well as Terms of Reference for the procurement of external consultants and subsequent steering of external international and local consultants
- Write, revise and review reports, brochures, policy briefs and recommendations for in and external audiences, and other documents ensuring high quality outputs
- Act as knowledge expert on selected policy topics, present results to high-level government representatives (Indonesian and German) and other relevant stakeholders in various formats
- Develop and maintain relationships with the political partner(s), IPG/GFANZ and other relevant public and private sector stakeholders within the scope of the JETP
- Contribute from your field of expertise to the GIZ portfolio development, including the participation in the preparation of new project concepts

- University degree in energy, science, economics, law, engineering, public policy, political science or fields relevant to the energy transition
- at least 5 (five) years professional experience in working in international collaboration context highly preferred
- Working experience in renewable energy, just transition and/or energy policy making
- Deep understanding of the Indonesian energy/power sector as well as its actors
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and the ability to build professional networks
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills (English and Bahasa Indonesia)
- Outstanding conceptual and strategic thinking skills
- Capacity to present ideas clearly and engage with diverse audiences.
