Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial (Yayasan Hivos) is an Indonesian organization affiliated with Hivos, born out of an active collaboration between Netherlands-based Hivos and several like-minded Indonesian academics and civil society leaders who subscribe to the values and mission of Hivos. Yayasan seeks qualified candidates for the position of:

Background

 

The Fisherfolk Empowerment for Climate Resilience and Sustainability (FOCUS) program aims to build a sustainable food system for the fisherfolk community in five districts in Central Java (Batang, Kendal, Semarang, Demak, and Jepara) through integrated ocean management. This program is supported by The Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and is the result of a co-creation process between Hivos, Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial (Yayasan Hivos), Koalisi Rakyat untuk Keadilan Perikanan (KIARA), Pusat Kajian Sumberdaya Pesisir dan Lautan Institut Pertanian Bogor (PKSPL-IPB), and Wahana Lingkungan Hidup Indonesia (WALHI).  The program is four years, from 15 December 2022 to 15 December 2026.    

  

FOCUS will cooperate with local governments, community groups, and other relevant stakeholders to raise awareness of nutritional issues, coastal management, and the climate resilience of coastal communities. Advocacy, awareness raising, and capacity development will be provided in cooperation with local authorities and other stakeholders to implement the activities under four outcomes:  

1.      Inter-sectoral coordination platform produced policy recommendation/draft of policies/other legal documents on integrated coastal management for a sustainable food system. 

2.      Local stakeholders apply improved/adaptive sustainable fisheries and coastal management to mitigate disaster risk & impact of the climate crisis.  

3.      Sustainable and inclusive livelihood opportunities for coastal communities are promoted, particularly among women and the youth.  

4.      Public increased their understanding and engagement on sustainable management of marine and coastal assets (fisheries, mangroves, reefs) and climate crisis.

 

Objective

The main objective of the assignment is to develop villages' profiles or "Profil Desa":

1.      Conduct a Baseline Study of the 9 (nine) villages around the Central Java area based on aspects developed by the FOCUS consortium.

2.      Develop profiles of the 9 (nine) villages around the Central Java area based on the results of assessment, where the profiles of the villages will be served as a baseline study at the village level

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications and Experiences :

The consultants can be a firm and or a team of specialists. The following are the collective selection criteria for the institution or a team of consultants:

       Solid experience and proven track record of carrying out such assessments, including the use of participatory tools as a means of data collection.

       Good understanding of Indonesia's climate and environmental issues, including gender equality.

       Excellent reporting and communication skills, including English language skills.

CRS/Indonesia is currently looking for Project Officer – MEAL for Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation project, Job Code: MEAL CAP. The position will be based in Kupang City and report to Program Manager.

 

Job Summary:

As a MEAL Officer, you will provide city level support to the five-year Caritas Australia-funded project Climate Action Partnerships in Asian Cities (CAPACities), which aims to strengthen inclusive climate change governance and adaptive capacities of Kupang City to manage the impacts of climate. Working in close coordination with the Program Manager II Climate Change and other programming staff, and with city government and city stakeholders, you will assist in operationalizing monitoring, evaluation accountability and learning (MEAL) systems in support of CRS's work to serve the poor and vulnerable. You will help ensure that relevant data are collected, documented, managed, and made accessible to project stakeholders, as appropriate. You will support MEAL-related capacity building efforts for CRS and city stakeholders, as needed.

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

·         Lead the coordination and implementation of all assigned project MEAL activities as outlined in the Detailed Implementation Plan in line with CRS program quality principles, standards and MEAL practices; donor MEAL requirements; and industry good practices.

·         Monitor and report any MEAL-related challenges and gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist LGU and relevant city stakeholders in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.

·         Lead the roll-out and implementation of the project's feedback, response and complaint mechanism (FCRM). Support actively seeking and responding to feedback from all members of targeted communities and other stakeholders as defined by the FCRM.

·         Support field-level project MEAL activities (including digital data collection) and assist city LGU and relevant city stakeholders in their efforts to collect and ensure timely evidence-based analysis of project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with city government to prepare MEAL-related aspects of reports per established reporting schedule.

·         Collect information on staff MEAL capacity needs and technical assistance needs of targeted local government units, communities, relevant research institutions, private sectors, religious institutions, media, and local leaders and monitor MEAL-related capacity-building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.

·         Complete project documentation for assigned MEAL activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.

·         Support program learning and decision-making by posing thoughtful questions, engaging with project data, reflecting upon and sharing with project management the information gathered from LGU, city stakeholders and community members.

 

Basic Qualifications

·         Bachelor's degree in the social sciences or other related fields required.  A Master's degree in relevant field is an advantage.

·         Minimum of three years' experience in M&E work.

·         Experience in participatory action planning and government engagement.

·         Proficient using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

 

Required Languages – Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia

 

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%.

 

Duty Station - This position will be based in Kupang. However, in the event of a disaster where CRS launches an emergency response, all CRS staff will be required to support the response and may be deployed to the response areas as necessary.

Background:

 

Revitalising Informal Settlements and their Environments (RISE) is deploying a novel, water-sensitive revitalisation approach to water and sanitation management in 24 informal settlements across Makassar, Indonesia and Suva, Fiji.

 

Working with communities, governments, local leaders and partner institutions, RISE is co-designing location-specific solutions that integrate green infrastructure, such as constructed wetlands, to strengthen the whole-of-life water and sanitation cycle.

 

Underpinned by the emerging discipline of 'planetary health', RISE success will be measured by the health and well-being of residents – particularly children under five years of age – and the ecological diversity of the surrounding environment.

 

RISE is currently seeking a Site Engineer to add to our growing team in Makassar, Indonesia.

 

The Role:

 

The Site Engineer will work under direct supervision of the Site Construction Manager, and closely with the RISE Makassar Build Team members, to oversee the work of the contractor on a day-to-day basis, undertake quantity and material quality surveys according SNI specification, ensure quality of construction in line with DED construction, and alignment with community expectations.

 

The site engineer will be responsible for overseeing contractors and ensuring works are being carried out efficiently according to the S curve scheduling proposed by the contractor, safely and to the required standard.

 

Works include small scale earthworks, flood protection structures, green infrastructure (ie wetlands) and sanitation systems including pressure sewer and private toilets.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

 

1) Civil construction management

 

       Undertake quantity surveying work, measure and compute completion/quantities of Works and materials (as applicable), which have been accepted and approved;

       Support the management of construction activities across multiple sites in relation to construction supervision

       Undertake quality inspections and assess works in accordance with technical specifications, local standards and regulations

       Monitor social and environmental safeguards and ensure health and safety of all personnel onsite, document all grievances in accordance with the Grievance Redress Mechanism

       Support the documentation of construction activities and outputs in line with donor and government requirements

 

Detailed Duties

       Support the Construction Manager to:

o   Examine and provide recommendation on the contractor's facilities, to ensure that these facilities conform to the agreed contract documents;

o   Assess and provide recommendation on the adequacy of materials, equipment and labors provided by the contractor, the contractor's methods of work, and rate of progress

o   Conduct or commission independent testing of materials and construction works to verify the results of the contractor's own tests or to test materials not tested by the contractor;

o   Provide general guidance to the contractor as may be necessary to ensure that the Works are carried out in accordance with the schedule and within the terms of the contract;

o   Inspect all working areas and installations during the execution of the Works, with particular attention to the health & safety of both the project personnel and the general public, and ensure that traffic management measures are properly implemented;

o   Check the contractor's setting out of the works with particular regard to gravity pipeline slopes as designed (or provide a technical recommendation if there are non-conformities in the field and DED; in case of wastewater conveyance works) and waterproofing of the pressure sewer;

o   Measure and compute completion/quantities of Works and materials (as applicable), which have been accepted and approved, and examine and certify the Engineer's payment requests;

o   Advise the Project Team on any detrimental environmental impacts of the Works and make recommendations to mitigate them;

 

 

2) Coordinating with project team members and stakeholders

 

       Coordinate closely with RISE Makassar Build team to oversee construction and community engagement

       Coordinate the timely flow of information between the project team and the contractor

       Provide an Integrity Pact on the quality of work, criminal acts of corruption, cooperating with any party that benefits oneself and or benefit others, performs omissions that can benefit others.

 

 

3) Other activities

 

       Support the community engagement and grievance redress processes

       Support to results-based monitoring and evaluation efforts

       Some support for activities outside of office hours may be required

 

Key result areas:

 

1. Timely and cost-effective achievement of all project activities and outputs.

 

2. Effective technical advice and oversight, including quality and safety assurance.

 

Required qualifications and experience:

 

       Minimum 5 years' experience working in the construction industry with at least 3 years working on site or directly managing contractors

       Experience in water and sanitation projects would be preferred

       Degree qualification in engineering/construction

       Technical and financial management ability

       Experience collaborating with project teams, local government and relevant intuitions at both local and national level

       Familiarity with community-based development and participatory design processes an added advantage.

       Fluent in oral and written English is an advantage

USAID Indonesia Urban Resilient Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (USAID IUWASH Tangguh) is a five-year Activity to advance Indonesia's development goals in increasing access to safely managed drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in vulnerable urban areas and strengthening climate-resilient WASH services and water resources management. In close partnership with the Government of Indonesia (GOI), USAID IUWASH Tangguh supports Indonesia's work to achieve their Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets to ensure access to water and sanitation for all (SDG 6) and to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable (SDG 11).

 

Using an Integrated Resilient IUWASH Systems (IRIS) approach—which aligns actions and incentives between upstream and downstream actors, while crowding in collaboration with key stakeholders through partnerships that accelerate the enabling environment and key enabling factors, such as finance and data—the USAID IUWASH Tangguh team will provide technical assistance to GOI, private sector and civil society stakeholders to achieve four objectives: 1) Strengthened WASH and WRM Sector Governance and Financing; 2) Increased Access to Poor-Inclusive, Climate-Resilient, Safely Managed Drinking Water and Sanitation Services; 3) Improved Water Resources Management to Support Resilient Drinking Water Services; and 4) Increased Adoption of Behaviors and Improved Women's Participation and Leadership Roles that Contribute to Improvements of WASH and WRM.

 

USAID IUWASH Tangguh is looking for short term Individual GESI Consultants to provide technical assistance to Local Government in integrating GESI into Policies and Program (Planning and Budgeting)  - for North Sumatera Regional Office and Central Java / West Java Regional Offices

 

The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance to the government to mainstream gender and social inclusion in policies, programs, regional action plans, strategies, collect and analyze disaggregated data,  measurement of high-quality program that advance gender equality and ensure that women, men, girls , boys and other vulnerable group  can equitably access, participate within, benefit from and act as decision makers for development programming particularly in WASH and WRM Sectors.
