Communications Manager, Southeast & Oceania

Job Purpose and Background

CDP is looking for a full-time Communications Manager to develop, implement, and lead integrated multi-channel media and communications strategies and plans in the Southeast & Oceania region. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in a dynamic business-facing organization that works with some of the largest companies in the region on disclosing their environmental risks, opportunities, and impacts to mitigate climate change, tackle deforestation and improve water security. We are looking for a results-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider global team.

The successful candidate will play an integral role within CDP's global communications team, which is responsible for the organisation's external global communications and marketing and manage CDP's Southeast Asia and Oceania communications strategies in line with the specific needs of the region's target audiences.

This role will report to the Director of CDP Southeast & Oceania and work closely with the global communications team to ensure the alignment of strategies, standards, and branding.

Key responsibilities include:

Communications Strategy

  • Lead, develop and implement integrated multi-channel global communications strategies and plans for actively growing CDP's regional profile in the designated region, in line with CDP's Strategic Plan and global communications strategy;
  • Communicate and champion CDP's brand and strategic positioning to key stakeholders in the region via CDP's social media and offline channels, ensuring that external communications meet the needs of local target audiences.
  • Build relationships and manage communications and global coordination with CDP offices and external partners.

Media Outreach

  • Develop, manage and implement a regional plan to maximize CDP's media coverage through compelling news stories, thought leadership and proactive media outreach, working closely with the global communications team;
  • Cultivate a network of journalists and editors in major media outlets in the region (broadcast, print, web and social media) to ensure widespread coverage of CDP's mission and expertise in environmental disclosure;
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials for CDP as required;
  • Identify and act upon media opportunities to maximize regional coverage of CDP.

Development and Event Management

  • Advise and assist with CDP Worldwide staff with the production of regional reports, workshops, webinars, and event management and provide marketing communications guidance where relevant;
  • Develop creative content in the region in line with CDP's global content strategy and plan, for CDP reports, media articles, blogs, social media, marketing collateral, etc, working closely with the global content team;
  • Support the Director of CDP on ad hoc projects and carry out any other work that supports CDP's operations and international presence, as required.

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience and proficiency in Social Media, Corporate Communications and PR
  • An understanding of and desire to work proactively to promote corporate sustainability;
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to turn complex information into compelling stories and content;
  • Extensive experience in promoting content on a wide range of digital and traditional platforms;
  • Strong copy-writing and editing skills;
  • Solid and demonstrable experience and interest in social media;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of local and regional media, including business, trade and environment media;
  • Creative ideas for impactful communications in a complex and competitive global media landscape;
  • Event experience both online and offline is a major plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and nurture relationships both internally and externally, including complex multi-stakeholder relationships;
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team and remotely with colleagues in CDP's global offices;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Southeast Asian language is a distinct advantage.

This is a full-time role and based in Singapore or Indonesia. Applicants must be eligible to work in legally in Singapore or Indonesia.

Salary: Annual salary range SGD 60k to 65k, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company's performance), 24 days' holiday and other associated benefits.
