About TREEO
Our vision for TREEO stems from 8 years of tree planting experience in Indonesia and Uganda where we were able to plant more than 1 million trees together with a highly ambitious team. Working towards this achievement we realized the difficulty of accurately monitoring CO2 sequestration to prove our impact. TREEO is our solution. TREEO collects monitoring data from every single tree, which creates the necessary trust and transparency for small-holder farmers to commercialize carbon removals. This empowers local communities to regenerate the Earth while generating new revenue. We will continue our mission to collectively mitigate climate change!
Role and Responsibilities
For this new position, we are looking for a young professional in Indonesia who has gained good knowledge about the Indonesian forest and carbon policies. The Carbon Standards and Methodologies Assistant will have the following responsibilities:
- Support TREEO carbon team in conducting literature review and synthesis of existing carbon standards and methodologies for different carbon sinks (above-ground/ below-ground biomass, Harvested Wood Products (HWP), Biochar, Wooden Constructions)
- Executive Summary of Indonesian carbon documentation/policies in English
- Assist in the preparation of necessary documents to register TREEO's projects under the National carbon Registry in Indonesia
- Identify collaboration opportunities for TREEO with research institutions in Indonesia in order to conduct pilot projects on the carbon sequestration capacities and growth models of specific tree species
- Take part in the virtual events and news related to the Carbon in Indonesia and report about them to the Carbon team
- Conduct other tasks as required
Required Background
- Advanced Degree in Forestry, Forestry Management, Forest Governance or related field
- Extensive knowledge of Indonesia forestry, including regulations and policies
- Previous work experience within an international environment (research and development)
- Fluent in Bahasa and English (spoken and written)
- Very good communication, writing and presentation skills
Preferred capabilities
- Ability to explain complex concepts and ideas to a variety of audience
- Willingness to leave old school standards and create something new
- Experience working within cross-cultural organization and start-up environment
- Knowledge of carbon policies in Indonesia
- Established contacts with different stakeholders (International organizations, research institutions, government administration)
This position is ideal for a passionate professional willing to learn quickly about the carbon market and land use projects, working in a dynamic and challenging setup. It has the potential for being a home-based position in Indonesia with convenient and cost-effective commuting to our office in Bali, Indonesia as required.
