About TREEO
Our vision for TREEO stems from 8 years of tree planting experience in Indonesia and Uganda where we were able to plant more than 1 million trees together with a highly ambitious team. Working towards this achievement we realized the difficulty of accurately monitoring CO2 sequestration to prove our impact. TREEO is our solution. TREEO collects monitoring data from every single tree, which creates the necessary trust and transparency for small-holder farmers to commercialize carbon removals. This empowers local communities to regenerate the Earth while generating new revenue. We will continue our mission to collectively mitigate climate change!
Role and Responsibilities
For this new position, we are looking for a Forestry Trainer in Indonesia who has gained practical experience in the fields to advise, train and support our tree planting partner organizations all over Indonesia. The Forestry Trainer will have the following responsibilities:
- Advise Tree Planting Organizations and farmers on best forestry practices and help select appropriate tree species and best forestry and agroforestry practices
- Liaise with our Carbon Team and advise on suitability of tree species for carbon sequestration and growth capacities
- Develop training materials, including Train the trainers, and conduct training sessions with a various group of stakeholders
- Conduct Training in the fields on TREEO Mobile and Web applications
- Liaise with Technology and Communication teams for developing training media material to be implemented in the various TREEO platforms
Required Background
- Advanced Degree in Forestry or Agroforestry
- Extensive and practical experience in the fields in all area of forestry and agroforestry in Indonesia
- Extensive experience in providing training to a various range of stakeholders
- Experience in developing training concepts and materials
- Fluent in Bahasa and English (spoken and written)
- Very good communication and presentation skills
- Very good technology and problem solving skills
Preferred capabilities
- Deep understanding of smallholders farmers needs and capabilities
- Practical experience and know-how in most regions in Indonesia (East Nusa Tenggara, Java, Sumatra etc.)
- Data Modeling in Excel or similar tools
- Ability to explain complex concepts and ideas to a variety of audience
- Willingness to leave old school standards and create something new
- Willingness to travel in Indonesia and abroad (50%)
- Experience working within cross-cultural organization and start-up environment
This position is ideal for a passionate professional willing to learn quickly about the carbon market and land use projects, working in a dynamic and challenging setup. It has the potential for being a home-based position in Indonesia with convenient and cost-effective commuting to our office in Bali, Indonesia as required.
