As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following position for our office in South Tapanuli, North Sumatera:

 

Sundaland GIS and Spatial Coordinator

(Code: SGS-C)

 

 

The Sundaland GIS and Spatial Coordinator is conducting and supporting spatial analysis and remote sensing work for various program design, implementation, and research activities and projects within Konservasi Indonesia terrestrial Program with focus area on Sundaland region. The SGS Coordinator is also strategically supporting the analysis of national program and the other landscapes. The SGSC will support work by managing the resources including hardware, software and data infrastructure. The SGS Coordinator will also be required to contribute to the development of baseline methodologies for Program/Project monitoring and evaluation.

The SGS Coordinator works and liaises closely with Sundaland Director, Advisors, North Sumatera Landscape Managers, Sr Manager West Java, Konservasi Indonesia Staffs, and persons of other institution relevance in the field.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Spatial Data Collection and Analysis:

·       Supporting spatial data collection at field level including but not limited to smallholders mapping, FMU spatial data collection, key biodiversity areas, high conservation value areas, potential social forestry areas, etc

·       Technical field liaison for internship, volunteers in supporting spatial data collection

·       In collaboration with other GIS staffs and advisor, support GIS manipulation and analysis.

·       Perform spatial data analysis that allows data integration in various ways to reveal relationships, patterns, and trends, including biodiversity data.

·       Supporting field team in developing map

·       Supporting program/project monitoring and evaluation activities by developing baseline and monitoring the progress

·       Make annual data of whole Sundaland projects' impact indicators.

·       Prepare and train partners about image data collections captured by UAV and the analysis process from images

·       Preview and review of partners' works especially on spatial data outputs for further review from managers and Sundaland director.

 

2.     GIS data management and capacity building:

·       In collaboration with other GIS staffs, IT coordinator and field staffs, supporting the development spatial database and its management plan.

·       Supporting other GIS staffs to make sure that the spatial data management plan and implementation comply with KI policy.

·       Maintain, organize, and arrange spatial data into spatial database system using KI guidelines and standards, and synchronize to KI GIS server.

·       Supporting the development training module and capacity building for forest assessment, land use monitoring, and GIS

·       Provide GIS training and related capacity buildings to local conservationist, volunteers, and internship

 

3.     GIS data visualization and maintenance IT infrastructure:

·       Develop high-quality maps (soft file and/or printout) for proposals, reports, presentations, biodiversity survey sample design, and other communication materials.

·       Supporting IT manager in maintain GIS infrastructure (server, database, and online platform), and IT infrastructure in field office to make sure it is always easily accessible.

·       Provide GIS and IT technical support (troubleshooting, license activation, provide current software, etc.)

 

4.     Other duties as assigned

·       Provide technical inputs on GIS and spatial analysis for project monitoring and evaluation

·       Provide technical inputs on the concepts and strategies related to spatial aspects in the development of proposals

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Minimum S1 (BSc) with relevant experience on forestry, conservation, biodiversity, landscape, or natural resource management-related science with a minimum 5 years of experience.

·       Has fluent capacity for conducting spatial analysis

·       In-depth knowledge of biodiversity and conservation issues

·       Coordination skill and ability to planning and managing simultaneous and interdisciplinary tasks.

·       Good interpersonal skills, leadership, skill and ability to work with variety of skilled technical staffs, NGOs, national and sub-national government representatives.

·       Work well in dynamic situations and meet deadline with short notification

·       Good communications skill, and fluent in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

·       Required field activities communication, consultation, coordination, and meeting with multi-stakeholders and partners

·       Work may be performed in a remote location.

·       Requires extensive travel to field site and offices.

·       Maintains fit and healthy so that field program runs smoothly.
