BBC Media Action is BBC’s charity international development institution, funded independently by external grant and voluntary contributions. The objective of the organisation is to use media and communication for poverty reduction, improving health, and supporting people in understanding their rights. BBC Media Action established the office in Indonesia since 2019 and with its partners, implementing various projects related to capacity strengthening in production, especially in sustainable development and green growth.
BBC Media Action is currently seeking:
Freelancer: Videographer (2 persons)
Freelancer: Content Writer/Script Writer (1 person)
Based : Jakarta, Indonesia

Reports To : Digital Manager
Duration : February 2023 – April 2023 (total 80 days) with possibility of extension
Contract : Local terms and conditions. Only eligible for Indonesian nationals or those legally able to work in Indonesia
Overall purpose:
With the needs to produce audio-visual content to conduct series capacity of strengthening activities related to indigenous communities’ livelihood, economic opportunity, and positive support for increasing the value of their local resources, BBC Media Action is now hiring freelancers that consist of 3 videographers and 1 content writer/script writer.
Reporting to Digital Manager, the Videographer freelancers will produce the videos and photos for the discussion club while the Content Writer/Script Writer freelancer will write the scripts of the videos. The freelancers will produce 39 episodes of audio visual and photos stimuli that will be used for discussion club in Sumatra and Kalimantan. The task will be including editing the script, videos, audios, and photos for the audio-visual stimuli. The working area is Java, Sumatra, and Kalimantan.
Timeline of the production:
- 30 days: 39 scripts, story boards, and 10 eps videos
- 30 days: 10 eps videos
- 20 days: 19 eps videos
Main duties of videographer
- Producing photos and 39 videos for discussion club stimuli related to indigenous communities’ livelihood
Note: The video will contain interviews with resource persons and coverage of activities with the themes: handicrafts, agriculture, agroforestry, ecotourism, digital skill, and indigenous peoples' rights
- Editing 39 videos and photos related to indigenous communities’ livelihood
- Understand and comply to BBC Media Action code of conduct and Safeguarding policy
Main duties of scriptwriter
- Writing scripts and story board to produce 39 videos related to indigenous communities’ livelihood
Notes:
- The scripts will contain interviews with resource person and coverage of activities with the themes: handicrafts, agriculture, agroforestry, ecotourism, digital skill, and indigenous peoples' rights)
- Scripts will be written in 2 languages, Indonesian and English
- Understand and comply to BBC Media Action code of conduct and Safeguarding policy
Specific Criteria/Qualification for Videographer freelancer:
- Has experience in video production for programs on television, OTT, and social media
- Skilful in using professional camera (DSLR) and audio recorder
- Advance skill in video software editing (adobe premiere)
- Able to work in team, including develop creative ideas related to indigenous communities
- Able to travel to various locations to produce the contents, including working with local partners
- Able to speak and write in English and Indonesian fluently
- Content/programs/video portfolio in Television, OTT, social media (IG,Tiktok,Youtube)
Specific Criteria/Qualification for Scriptwriter freelancer:
- Has experience in writing scripts for programs on television, OTT, and social media
- Able to work in team, including develop creative ideas related to indigenous communities
- Able to speak and write in English and Indonesian fluently
- Content/programs/video portfolio in Television, OTT, social media (IG,Tiktok,Youtube)
Additional Requirement:
Due to the possibility of the freelancers’ interaction with vulnerable children and adults, police background check will be part of screening process

Freelancer’s Fee & Benefit:
- IDR 500,000 for each final script (nett)
- IDR 1,000,000 for each final video production and editing (nett)
- Insurance coverage IDR 500,000/month by submitting the receipt from insurance provider
