Founded in 2017, Lestari Capital (LC) is an environmental enterprise, built to protect the world's natural
assets through a commercially viable business model. We accomplish this by mobilizing new finance for
initiatives that protect and rehabilitate important natural landscapes around the world. The Indonesian
word "Lestari" means sustainable, or everlasting, signifying our commitment to developing long-term
sources of finance for high quality conservation and restoration initiatives.
Lestari Capital's impact model addresses a critical need for long-term operating capital for Projects run by
local communities, conservation non-profits and environmental services companies. Lestari Capital aims to
strengthen Southeast Asia's emerging ecosystem services marketplace, by connecting demand for on-the ground conservation efforts among commodity producers/buyers with Projects that are protecting or
restoring forests where these companies operate, to protect at-risk areas. Lestari Capital is supported by a
diverse group of public-private partnerships and brings actors from the commodities and finance sectors
together with conservation initiatives and funders.

POSITION OVERVIEW
As a key member of the Project Team, the Project Manager will oversee the development of selected
projects in the Climate, Collective and Solutions pipeline in Malaysia, as well as their validation under the
Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Climate, Community, Biodiversity Standard (CCB), and other high quality
internationally recognized standards. S/he will also be involved in the identification of potential project
partners and assist in due diligence process to determine whether they meet the long-term vision of Lestari
Capital.
The Project Manager will ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the day-to-day project's' implementation,
providing oversight to the project implementation in collaboration with project operators/implementing
partners in order to achieve sustainable impact of the conservation project. She/he will report to the
Malaysia Country Lead.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as key member of Project Team
• Contribute to project design, pipeline development, linking projects with potential LC clients,
due diligence needs, communications;
• Contribute to developing innovative approaches to delivering ecosystem services outcomes to
multiple potential clients in line with relevant country policies;
• Serve as a representative of Lestari Capital to local authorities and partners, as needed.
2. Project onboarding and implementation
• Manage onboarding process, ensuring projects progress swiftly through each step (concept,
due diligence, budgeting etc) and complete onboarding in a timely manner
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to project operators/implementing partners during
onboarding and implementation
• Support project operators in preparing and submitting the documentation required by VCS,
CCB and similar standards
3. Pipeline development
• Work with local NGOs, private companies, community groups, government officials, to identify
potential and strategic projects
• Support the development of robust and feasible projects meeting LC requirements
• Evaluate potential and capacity of project operators to deliver multiple projects
• Serve as point-person for potential new Projects or Project Operators
• Foster good relationships with project operators and other potential partner organizations
through formal and informal communication channels
4. Monitoring
• Lead all monitoring process to ensure all project activities implemented by project operators
to achieve key performances indicators set in the project design.
• Ensure robust and integrated data collection and information management system to prepare
high-quality data and report
• Support in preparation of project quarter and annual report
5. Capacity Building
• Identify the needs for capacity building for project operators/implementing partners for sound
project development and implementation
• Support the development and planning of high-quality training and other capacity building
activities to enhance organizational capacity of the project operators.
• Coordinate relevant technical assistance needed to achieve project key performance indicators

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's or master's degree in forestry, ecology, agronomy, environmental studies, geography,
or other relevant field
• At least 5 years of working experience in Malaysia; strong preference for experience in forestry,
environmental conservation, and/or agricultural sectors over the whole country
• Experience with project design and management, excellent communication skills across sectors,
good network across the country in the relevant field
• Technical knowledge and skills in GIS applications
• Good computer skills in the main software programs (Excel, Word, Power Point Access, etc.)
• Malaysian citizen with good communication both oral and written, in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Any other local language or local dialect is an advantage.

• Values the sharing of information and continuous improvement in a cooperative atmosphere of
constructive evaluation and learning

WORK CONDITION
The candidate will be based in Malaysia with a work from home arrangement until such a time there is an
office to report to. Must have the flexibility to be able to commit to travel to Lestari Capital offices and
project sites as and when necessary.
