Nutrition International (NI) has been supporting the Ministry of Health (MoH), Government of Indonesia in implementing Weekly Iron and Folic Acid (WIFA) supplementation and adolescent nutrition interventions for school-going adolescent girls since 2015. The adolescent nutrition program in Indonesia is a multisectoral intervention through the School Health Program (UKS/M), involving four ministries: Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC), Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA). NI is now continuing its support to scale up and to replicate the key WIFAS program elements in Banten and West Java Provinces.
To strengthen the implementation of adolescent nutrition program including the boarding schools (Pesantren) and formal schools (Madrasah Tsanawiyah/MTs and Madrasah Aliyah/MA) under MORA's supervision, it is essential to have the capacity and commitment of board of directors and teachers to implement and monitoring the adolescent nutrition program. Pandeglang District Health Office and PHO West Java requested to NI to support workshop to socialize the adolescent nutrition program to the multi-sectoral stakeholders including school-teachers at Madrasah and Pesantren, and to advocate multi-sectoral stakeholders to strengthen the adolescent nutrition program implementation at boarding schools and at religious basis schools (MTs and MA) level in Pandeglang, Banten and West Java province. Therefore, based on this request, NI will provide technical and financial support to conduct workshops on the anaemia prevention among adolescent girls' program focusing on delivery of WIFAS and the roles of multiple stakeholders including teachers who work and supervisory the Islamic boarding schools, Madrasah (MTs and MA) in Pandeglang district of Banten and West Java province.
In addition, as the adolescent program enters in the last quarter of the implementation year, NI will facilitate and support annual program review Provincial Health Offices (PHO), District Health Offices (DHOs) for the WIFAS program in Banten and West Java. NI seeks agency to manage logistics and coordination and communication to support the workshops.
