Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Officer – Jakarta

Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003, and officially became the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sector for the programme include:
• Water and Sanitation
• Sustainable livelihood
• Education
• Child Welfare
• Shelter
• Disaster Risk Reduction
• Climate Change
The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and Jakarta Province and will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.
Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Officer based in Jakarta
Reporting Line:
Post holder would directly report to Area Coordinator.
Overall Responsibility:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Area Coordinator, the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) officer will support Area Coordinator Central Sulawesi in the implementation of the project activities in collaboration with the local government and other relevant stakeholders including community leaders and members in the target areas. The DRR Officer will also organize and coordinate project activities at the community level/religious place institutions and in consultation with implementing partners (Education & Training Center of NDMA and Ministry of Religion), BPBD and community local leaders, including facilitation of various DRR training This position will be based in Jakarta and its vicinity, with regular travel to the area of implementation target including the possibility of traveling or deployment outside Jakarta to ensure all project deliverables are achieved meeting the scope, budget and time
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Implement all the activities plan according to the work plan;
- Along with DRR specialist/coordinator, design and conduct technical assessments, and initiate dialogue with targeted religious place institutions
- Promote DRR’s religious-based approach and foster DRR leadership by creating champions in the community
- Support Area Coordinator to develop and implement a social mobilization plan for enhanced community awareness, knowledge management and public outreach in DRR
- Design and implement DRM activities at religious place institution (PVCA, Action Plan, DRR Training, team establishment, and policy formulation).
- Assist the Area Coordinator/Project Coordinator in building a Safer Religious Institution, taking into account lessons learned from previous DRR projects
- Support Area Coordinator to Facilitate and assist the formation of religious place-based disaster management teams;
- Support Area Coordinator to design and impart capacity building and training for supported religious places’ capacity in disaster management
- Maintain liaison with other partners, GO and NGOs for collecting/sharing information in the assigned area;
- Assist Area/Project Coordinator in Disaster Management Organizational Development including linkages of emergency phases with DRR with clear trajectrories
- Facilitate in the conducting of workshops/training with the religious community target of the project
- Facilitate relationship building and communications relating to the role of religious places in disaster management between the Islamic Relief, religious place institutions and relevant government agencies
- Together with DRR Coordinator/specialists develop communication tools and stakeholder mapping as well as analyses for project
- Prepare for emergency deployment in case of disaster occurrence in the country
- Prepare a written report of the program activities in the field of assignment;
- Undertake other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the management;
- Keep all records up to date and file in a proper and efficient manner;
- Fulfil other tasks based on assign.
Knowledge and Skills:
· Demonstrable technical capacity in DRR including community and city resilience and rural development.
· Good knowledge of the humanitarian practices, Nature of emergency response, rehabilitation, and recovery will be an advantage
· Demonstrate skill in community engagement including utilization of PRA and other participatory tools used in Project Management
· Must have a good understanding of the different systems of extension delivery in an interfaith context.
· Demonstrated ability to conduct/oversee evaluations, reviews, assessments, etc.
· Able to write a report in English
· Flexible.
· Knowledge and practical understanding of and ability to work within both relief and development NGO contexts.
· Computer literate.
Experience:
· Graduate degree (S1) in development, social sciences or related field.
· At least 3 years of professional experience in the technical area of DRR, including Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) in an international organization.
· Skill and experience in partnership/working with/facilitating local NGO partner.
· Strong skills and broad experience in community organizing.
· Has strong skills in training facilitation including developing training plans and modules.
· Has experience in applying participatory tools and is able to facilitate Focus Group Discussion (FGD), interview, observation and survey.
