Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial (Yayasan Humanis) is an Indonesian organization affiliated with Hivos, born out of an active collaboration between Netherlands based Hivos and several like-minded Indonesian academics and civil society leaders who subscribe to the values and mission of Hivos. The purpose is to promote humanistic values in the social, economic, health, and cultural fields which is defined in terms of the ability for each individual to assess and decide independently and responsibly, the right to freedom, dignity and a passion to create a just and tolerant society.

Yayasan Humanis seeks qualified candidates for the position of:

Title                      :  Project Officer Holistic Security Feminist (PO Holsec Fem)

Duty Station        : Jakarta, Indonesia

Report to             :  PDM CRiDA

Duration              :  1 year

Background

Yayasan Humanis has been implementing the Digital Defenders Partnership (DDP) program to advance Internet freedom and to keep the Internet open and free. The program provides emergency response and sustainable protection funding, strengthens rapid responders and local protection networks and capacities, and contributes to long-term organizational safety through Fellowships. To improve the capacity development and support toward the HRDs and relevant rightsholders further, the Yayasan has established a dedicated program for building holistic security capacity within women and minority rights defenders' communities.

The crackdown on civic actors in defending their rights has been growing over the years in Southeast Asia. The rising authoritarian and semi-authoritarian regimes in several countries in the region that devised the COVID-19 pandemic for their interests have exacerbated the threats and attacks toward civil society organizations and human rights defenders (HRDs). The growing political polarization has fueled intolerance towards and incited violence against minority groups, while actors who make data available to the public, including journalists, bloggers, community media, communicators, and whistle-blowers, have been attacked by conservative groups and autocratic sympathizers. In the case of Indonesia, discrimination and violence against minority groups, the politicized use of defamation laws, disinformation campaigns targeting activists and escalated control over social media platforms are the most pressing challenges. While more women and minority communities coordinate and express their opinions on the internet during the pandemic, the anti-feminist and misogynistic movements intimidated and attacked the communities through different forms of online Gender Based Violence (OGBV). In the upcoming election and post-election, those who are intersectionally marginalized are at particular risk of being scapegoated, targeted, and attacked for electoral and other ends.
