BACKGROUND
Yayasan Project HOPE (YPH) has been known in Indonesia since 1960 when the hospital ship USS HOPE visited Indonesia as part of its visit to several countries for humanitarian operations. YPH manages several programs in the areas of Infection Diseases, Tuberculosis Laboratory Strengthening, Maternal Neonatal Health, COVID-19 Emergency Response and Mental Health. It is also establishing an emergency response hub to strengthen emergency response operating systems in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator for Community and Mental Health will work closely with the Program Manager (PM) to support the implementation and coordination of various community health projects. This role will focus on the design, management, and evaluation of program activities aimed at reducing maternal, neonatal, and child mortalities, strengthening mental health support for mothers and families, enhancing primary healthcare and community-based healthcare services and other activities as assigned to improve the quality and effectiveness of YPH community health program. S/he will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of these programs by providing technical expertise and program management support. S/he will also be responsible to provide support for the implementation of Community and Mental Health programs at the district interventions level and other activities as assigned to improve the quality and effectiveness of YPH community health and mental health capabilities. S/he is also expected to assist in implementing the integration of mental health service at the selected Primary Health Care (PHC) and hospital levels in the selected districts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Program Implementation
a. Collaborate with the PM to execute program activities according to established plans, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
b. Ensure that all program interventions are aligned with best practices and evidence-based approaches in community and mental health.
c. Ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of the programs based in selected districts.
d. Supports logistic activities on intervention sites when and wherever needed.
2. Stakeholder Engagement
a. Representing YPH coordinating Mental Health Program (Bandung City) activities with District Health Offices including other relevant stakeholders at the duty station.
b. Facilitate effective communication and coordination among various stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, healthcare providers, and professional partner organizations.
c. Foster collaborative relationships to promote program objectives and enhance community engagement.
3. Technical Support
a. Provide technical guidance and support to program staff and community health workers involved in the implementation of community and mental health initiatives.
b. Offer expertise on screening and detecting mental health and psychosocial support services for mothers and families.
c. Conducts regular supervision and provides in-the-job mentorship to support the integration of mental health service at the primary health care level.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
a. Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to track program progress, identify gaps, and measure the impact of interventions.
b. Regularly analyse data, generate reports, and provide recommendations for program improvement and scalability.
5. Capacity Building
a. Identify training needs and develop capacity-building plans for program staff, health workers and community health workers.
b. Deliver or facilitate training sessions on relevant topics, including maternal and child health, mental health support, and community-based healthcare.
6. Documentation and Reporting
a. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of program activities, including project plans, progress reports, and success stories and keeps track of all the activities that have been completed as well as the accomplishments that have been obtained. Documentation includes the output of activities (i.e., documents, photos, videos, TOR, stories/testimonials from beneficiaries, and so on) as well as records and identified potential challenges in the project's implementation, and report it regularly following the specified deadlines, formats, and reporting mechanism.
b. Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and applications for funding opportunities in the field of community and mental health.
c. Provide expense reports that occur at the duty station and submit them to the Finance and Admin departments through document tracker by following the procedures and rules that apply at YPH.
7. Collaboration and Networking
a. Builds and maintains positive working relationships/networks with other YPH program teams (such as IPC FO), health authorities, health staff, other health actors, and local authorities.
b. Cooperates with other YPH departments to ensure a collaborative and integrated approach, and in line with YPH's communication procedures and the strategy of the Sub-Delegation.
c. Actively participate in relevant meetings, workshops, and conferences to stay abreast of the latest developments and best practices in community health and mental health.
d. Engage in networking and knowledge-sharing activities with other organizations and stakeholders to leverage resources and enhance program impact.
8. Adherence to Policies and Standards
a. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all program activities.
b. Uphold quality standards and promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
9. Executes tasks beyond the scope of this job description and offers assistance to other ongoing and new programs when necessary and as assigned, solely at the discretion of the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree is preferred, in the field of public health, nursing, psychology, health promotion, community mobilization or other relevant fields.
• 3+ years of project support (management, planning, staff development and training skills) in development programs.
• Skills and knowledge in capacity building, project monitoring and evaluation
• Strong writing, presentation, and training skills.
• Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks and many administrative details in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
• Computer proficiency should include Word, Excel, and other general experience with software programs.
• PREFERRED strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
• Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in English and local language is essential.
• Willingness to travel to another district for work.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Preferably those who have experience working with non-governmental organizations.
• Preferably those who have experience working on community-based mental health programs.
• Be comfortable interacting with new people and groups both one-on-one and for large gatherings.
• Be able to motivate above in positive collaboration.
• Exercise problem solving skills in day to day and crisis situations.
