Biodiversity Coordinator
(Code: BC-TS)
Biodiversity Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating biodiversity conservation efforts in Sundaland Ecoregion, with a focus on strategic planning, data collection and analysis, database management, program monitoring, collaboration with stakeholders, integration of biodiversity content in environmental communication and education, as well as participation in the preparation of national policies related to biodiversity. This position will work closely with Conservation Planning Managers, Monitoring and Evaluation team and Policy team in KI.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Under direction of Forestry and Biodiversity Manager, coordinate the planning of KI's biodiversity conservation strategies for Sundaland ecoregion especially in North Sumatra.
· Coordinating field data collection and analysis of biodiversity data for Sundaland ecoregion especially in North Sumatra.
· Develop and manage Sundaland program's biodiversity database.
· Trains the partners and field team in operating monitoring tools and biodiversity data collections
· Monitor the achievements of Sundaland ecoregion program for the biodiversity component, in accordance with the KI Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Deliver regular reports on the intended achievements.
· Establish and maintain cooperation with stakeholders and other partners in the context of efforts to conserve biodiversity in Sundaland ecoregion.
· Collaborate with the communications and community outreach team to integrate biodiversity content into environmental communication and education materials for the Sundaland ecoregion program.
· Collaborate with the KI policy team to optimize KI's contribution in preparing the Indonesia Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree (biology, forestry, natural resource management-related science) or up to four years of college-level work, preferred.
· Min 5 years of related work experience, preferably in research, conservation biodiversity or NGOs.
· Ability to function well and willing to work in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced work team environment
· Have experience engaged with government agencies in the forestry, marine and environmental sectors.
· Good understanding of national policies related to biodiversity conservation.
· Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under supervisor direction.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid attention to detail and strong research and proofreading skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS
● This position to be based in South Tapanuli field office. While the work will generally be based in the office with a standard work schedule, the staff will be expected to spend long periods in outdoor.
