SNV Netherlands Development Organization

SNV is a mission-driven global development partner rooted in the contexts and societies where we work. And that mission is to strengthen capacities and catalyze partnerships that transform the agri-food, energy, and water systems to enable sustainable and more equitable lives for all. We are one team of over 1,600 people, the vast majority of whom come from the contexts where we work, in more than 20 countries in Africa and Asia.

In Indonesia, SNV started to operate in 2013, focusing on agrifood, energy, and water sector. The interventions in the agri-food sector utilize a productive and resilient landscape, inclusive market access and green investment, healthy diets for all, and youth employment opportunity approaches. In addition to these approaches, there are cross-cutting issues including climate change, good governance, as well as gender and social inclusion.

BIPOSC Project

SNV is joining The Livelihoods Fund for Family Farming (L3F) and PT Musim Mas to launch an unprecedented 10-year project (Biodiverse and Inclusive Palm Oil Supply Chain – BIPOSC) to help 2,500 smallholder palm oil farmers achieve this transition in Sumatera Island, Indonesia. Brought by Mars Incorporated Danone and L’OrĂ©al as the investors, the project aims to build a transparent and deforestation-free supply chain thanks to locally adapted agroforestry models, regenerative agriculture, and biodiversity enhancement. The project will help regenerate 8,000 hectares of palm farms in degrading land areas while restoring an additional 3,500 hectares of local biodiversity over 10 years.
