Full-time Research Assistant for The Habibie Center - ASEAN Studies Program
Background
The Habibie Center (THC) was founded in 1999 by the third Indonesian President, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie and family as a non-profit and independent think tank organization, with the mission to establish a structurally and culturally democratic society that recognizes, respects, and promotes human rights, and to increase the effectiveness of human resources management and the socialization of technology.
The Habibie Center is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to support the expansion and development of its ASEAN Studies program. S/he will be based in Jakarta and work as part of our core research team.
Tasks and Responsibilities
● Provide input and assistance in determining relevant and current issues related to ASEAN and East Asia
● Collect and analyze data to support the researchers in conducting research on ASEAN and East Asia-related issues.
● Assist in writing publications on ASEAN and East Asia-related issues.
● Assist in drafting policy briefs both in Indonesia and in English on ASEAN and East Asia-related issues.
● Support planning, implementation, and reporting of public dialogues and events.
● Assist in identifying speakers and target audience, preparing Terms of Reference, and producing the proceedings including administrative issues.
● Liaise with different stakeholders such as embassies, government agencies, universities, consultants, media, and other external partners.

● Represent The Habibie Center in ASEAN-related forums, seminars, workshops, and other events in Jakarta and the region, online and offline, and prepare a brief written report.
● Complete all deliverables as part of ongoing projects as well as contribute to securing future projects.
● Assist The Habibie Center with other program activities/events when needed.
Requirements
● Undergraduate degree in international relations, international studies, international development and cooperation, international security, international law, regional studies, or other related disciplines.
● 2-3 years of professional experience in a similar role.
● Strong interest in ASEAN and Indo-Pacific is an advantage.
● Experience in collecting and analyzing data for policy briefs, academic articles, and op-eds (in English and Bahasa Indonesia).
● Experience in organizing national and international events such as public dialogues and seminars (offline, online, and hybrid), with the ability to handle administrative issues.
● Experience in supporting project planning and management, from developing concept notes/proposals to implementation, and reporting phases.
● Experience in building relationships and connecting with various stakeholders, including local and international research organizations, governments, and NGOs, is an advantage
● Research skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods are an advantage.
● Solid organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize projects with attention to detail.
● A great team player, has integrity, professional discretion, and ability to interact effectively with diverse partners.
● Fluency in spoken and written English.
Duty Station: Jakarta
Contract Duration: This is a full-time position (5 days / 40 hours per week), with 10 months contract and potential extension based on performance. Expected to start in early March 2024.
