The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German implementing organization which provides services worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has years involvement in the area of renewable energy in Indonesia.
In Indonesia, GIZ is implementing various energy projects under the umbrella of the Energy Program Indonesia/ASEAN which works across various thematic pillars and areas which represent by several projects. As part of the Programme's pool of projects working with Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation – Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (DJ EBTKE – MEMR), GIZ is currently implementing a project, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI), German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), called "Strategic Exploration of Economic Mitigation Potentials through Renewables "(ExploRE). The project aims to enhance strategic options on renewable energies (RE) in the energy, climate, development, and financial sectors and to help create a more coherent environment between key players.
The project organizes the activities in Indonesia under four outputs. Those are:
- RE deployment strategy
- Political instruments and financial environment
- Institutional building
- Innovation
To support implementation of the project, we are seeking one (1) energetic and detail-oriented Indonesian candidate for the following position:
Trainee on Renewable Energy Technologies
A. Responsibilities
These following tasks provide a framework and can be adjusted during the traineeship:
- Assist in the formulation of knowledge products from the synthesize of ExploRE's technical knowledge in bioenergy from agroindustry waste, biomethane, green hydrogen, and etc.
- Assist Related Advisors in the implementation of Project's Technical Advisory Services related with technical assistance for Project's partners (government and private sector).
- Assist related Advisors in identifying and collecting required data and information for the implementation of Project's technical activities with Project's partners (government and private sector).
- Assist in the preparation of Terms of Reference, Minutes of Meeting, and presentation material for Project's technical activities.
- Assist in other relevant tasks as requested.
C. Required qualifications & competences
Qualifications
- Fresh graduate or last semester undergraduate student majoring in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, agricultural, bio-engineering, or any related academic fields.
- Experience in conducting desk research, formulating scientific paper, conducting data collection, data wrangling, and data analysis.
- Basic knowledge and familiarity on renewable energy, environmental issues, net zero emission, and other sustainable topics in Indonesia will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with various online meeting platforms.
- Familiarity and good command of using Microsoft-based working environment (SharePoint, Microsoft 365 for Enterprise, MS Words, MS Excel, MS Power Point).
- Preferably active in student/public organizations or activities.
- Good communication, organization, writing skills, and time management skills.
- Strong willingness to learn and upgrade skills.
- Proficiency in Indonesian and English language (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work in a team and to adapt to an international working environment.
Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
Expected Joining Date: a.s.a.p.
Period of Traineeship: 6 months
Direct Supervisor: Project Lead of ExploRE project
