Community Mobilizer for DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) Project – Jakarta and Palu

Country Purpose:
Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003, and officially became the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sector for the programme include:
• Water and Sanitation
• Sustainable livelihood
• Education
• Child Welfare
• Shelter
• Disaster Risk Reduction
• Climate Change
The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and Jakarta Province and will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.
Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking 2 staff of Community Mobilizer for DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) Project – Jakarta and Palu
Reporting Line:
Post holder would directly report to Project Officer under the guidance of Project Coordinator.
Overall Responsibility:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) officer, DRR community mobilizer will support the implementation of the project activities at grassroot level, including religious leaders and community in the target areas. The DRR community mobilizer will organize and coordinate project activities at the community level/religious place institutions and in consultation with relevant local stakeholders. . This position will be based in Palu and possibly in other location outside of Palu, with regular travel to the area of implementation target including the possibility to travel outside to ensure all project deliverables are achieved meeting the scope, budget and time
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Implement all the activities plan according to the work plan
· Support the project officer to implement a social mobilization at the field and community level for enhanced community awareness in DRR
· Facilitate day-to-day communication and discussion with the community to strengthen the capacity and resilience of the community incorporating religious places and faith leaders’ roles.
· Prepare Community Meeting with the Community village target and record the minutes of the meeting
· Undertake data collection needed for the project decision-making process
· Assist the DRR project officer in translating project objectives into community expectation, motivation, engagement, and mobilization
· Facilitate and assist the community to formulate a community action Plan.
· Facilitate and assist the community /religious places to formulate Standard Operational procedures.
· Facilitate and assist the process of selecting and electing champions from religious leaders in disaster management.
· Make daily reports
· Facilitate the organization of PCVA (Participatory Capacity and Vulnerability Assessment including utilization of effective tools in the community and religious places
· Prepare to be deployed in emergency response inside or outside of the assignment place
· Keep all records up to date and file in a proper and efficient manner;
· Fulfil other tasks based on relevant assignments and tasks
Knowledge and Skills:
· Demonstrable technical capacity in DRR facilitation and mobilization
· Good knowledge of the humanitarian practices, Nature of emergency response, rehabilitation, and recovery will be an advantage
· Good knowledge of PVCA and other similar tools in DRR
· Must have a good understanding of the different systems of extension delivery in an interfaith context.
· Understanding the local language will be an asset
· Able to write a daily report in effective ways
· Flexible, motivated, and eager to learn
· Computer literate.
Experience:
· Graduate degree (S1) or diploma in development, social sciences, or related field.
· At least 2 years of experience in DRR, including Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) in local or international organizations.
· Strong skills and broad experience in community engagement.
· Has strong skills in training/ facilitation including module dissemination.
· Has experience in applying participatory tools and is able to facilitate Focus Group discussion (FGD), interviews, observation, and surveys.
