Field Forestry Coordinator

Konservasi Indonesia requires a qualified and motivated individual as Field Forestry Coordinator for achieving target of improved forest management in Papua.
The role of this position is to work and collaborate with relevant organizations such as Forestry Agency, Forest Management Units (KHP), Social Forestry and Environmental Partnership (PSKL), Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA) and other relevant partners such as Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS) in protecting key natural capital areas including conservation areas, watersheds, and other critical forest areas. He/She is responsible for providing support to communities in managing and implementing their Social Forestry licenses. This position is also responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of activities in the field and maintaining good relations with local communities and partners.
The proposed location for this position is Manokwari. This position will report to Manokwari Program Manager. This position will work closely with other staffs in Papua, Jakarta and other offices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead field implementation of activities related to forestry including but not limited to social forestry, forest and biodiversity monitoring and patrolling, capacity building to forest authorities (training, workshop) and development of management plan
· Build strong collaboration with government at province and district/regency levels, Forest Management Unit, national government representatives (BP DAS, PSKL, BPKH, BBKSDA, etc.) and local communities.
· Provide technical inputs to government strategic documents such as RTRW, RPJMD, RKTP, etc.
· Develop and manage KI forestry database including social forestry licences and areas, deforestation, FMU areas and other concessions
· Supervise and provide technical inputs to partners and consultants to deliver high quality of products and impacts.
· Represent KI in meetings with government, partners and in workshops, conferences and other events.
· Produce technical reports as needed and support manager/director on donor reports/updates
· Provide inputs to KI strategic priorities, program sustainability and active supports to fundraising efforts
PEOPLE AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist other staff to collect data and information and implementing relevant activities.
● Maintain and establish good relationships with authorities, local, provincial and national government agencies, private sectors, NGOs and other stakeholders.
● Organize coordination meetings with government and traditional institutions at local, provincial and district levels.
● Produce regular reports and/or stories from the field about the activities carried out and the impacts produced, or good stories that are relevant for stakeholders and the public to know.
● Prepares technical reports on a regular basis and as necessary the policy technical reports and paper works.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Bachelor/Master degree preferred in forestry, landscape or natural resources management related science with at least 5 years of experience on forestry and sustainable development, preferably in Papua.
● Understanding of environmental and socio-economic issues in forestry sector in Tanah Papua.
● Flair for diplomacy; negotiation, mediation, conflict resolution, negotiating, develop networking and facilitation skills at all levels.
● Ability to diagnose problems and identify solutions.
● Good communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English (preferably)
● Computer literacy with experiences in electronic communications (i.e. E-mail, Internet, etc.) as a user including a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
● Experienced working with Forestry Agency, provincial and local governments such as BBKSDA, KPH, Bappeda and National Parks.
● Demonstrated and proven commitment to protection and conservation of natural resources.
● Demonstrated and proven ability to produce tangible results, prioritize tasks and develop timelines for project completion work independently, ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion, defining goals and deliverables, and delivering products.
● Ability contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the project and to positively influence the teamwork and to adapt to changes in workload and positively influence the project team and able to work under pressure and with multiple deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
● Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
● Ability to work an irregular schedule including weekends, travel extensively and on short notice, when required.
● Ability to work in a remote location for periods of time, when required.
● Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
