Background
The Biodiverse and Inclusive Palm Oil Supply Chain (BIPOSC) programme aims to encourage sustainable practices in the palm oil supply chain by enhancing the capacity of smallholder farmers in Indonesia and strengthening the institutional framework of farmer associations. In partnership with Livelihoods Funds for Family Farming (L3F), Danone, Mars Incorporated, Musim Mas, and World Agroforestry, the BIPOSC programme aim to reach over 2,900 palm oil farmers in 13 villages in the Labuhanbatu District of North Sumatera and will be implemented for a 10-year period (2021-2031).
There are many other achievements and progress from phase 1 that could be captured. Thus, we want to produce BIPOSC Phase 1 profile video better profile BIPOSC programme and SNV to relevant stakeholders such as donor, Government of Indonesia, other institutions at local level, and other development partners. Thus, we will hire a videographer for video production, photo stock and edit.
Objectives
Through this assignment, we aim to capture best practice and achievement of SNV's approach through BIPOSC Programme implementation.
The videos and the video making process should have the following characteristics (mandatory):
- Videos that portray the human-interest element, such as emotion and hope during the contribution they have made in the community in an empowering, creative and uplifting manner
- Videos that outline the transformative change happened in the way they are working or living towards safely managed sanitation
- Filming process is conducted with the utmost respect for children's wellbeing, dignity and privacy
Scope of Work
The videographer' scope of works are as follows:
- In coordination with SNV, develop overall concept for the videos mentioned in the objectives and deliverables
- Develop the scripts and storyboards for BIPOSC Project
- Direct, film, and produce video, including interview with key stakeholder within BIPOSC project
- Produce high quality photos stock from each location that is aligned with SNV value/highlight
- Provide post-production editing and fine-tuning work of the video
- Provide a one-stop-shop video solution which includes voice over, subtitle, narration, and translation to the whole or part of the video in English and Bahasa Indonesia
- Deliver the videos in high resolution and in popular formats for: InFocus presentations, YouTube
- Provide SNV with the final work on a USB drive and soft file
- Obtain content, testimonial, and build context by visiting project sites, interacting and interviewing with relevant stakeholders
- Develop the video in accordance with SNV brand passport, communication guideline
- Comply with SNV's Child Protection Code of Conduct and with the European General Protection Data Regulations (GDPR)
Deliverables
The expected deliverables of the videographers are as follow:
- Pre-Production: Narrative concept, story board, and accompanying script
- Video Production: filming/directing the video (include travel to BIPSOC project) and collecting secondary video footages/photo
- Stock Photo collection: taking representative picture that depict project's approach and achievement including aerial photographs
- Post-production: video editing and features, background sound, including subtitle and caption in Bahasa Indonesia and English, voice over, and sign language interpretation
- Long version: video profile BIPOSC project 3 minutes max
- Video teaser: BIPOSC project 1 minute max
- Produce stockphoto (include aerial) 150 photos
Timeline
The video production process will be carried out for 7 weeks
Requirements
- Have more than 5 years of experience in developing video scripts and story boards, as well as producing and directing videos
- Previous experience working with NGO is preferred
- Based in Medan or Greater North Sumatera area is preferable
- Previous experience with regenerative agriculture, palm oil, or other Agri-Food related issues is a plus
- Previous experience in filming sensitive matters in an ethical and respectful way is highly valued
- Familiar with providing video products to a variety of clients in different industries
- Extensive experience in producing development work related documentaries for international organisations with the aim of reaching both international and local audiences
- Able to film in digital, high-definition format
- Demonstrate the ability to complete the delivery of the products on time as schedule
- Able, willing and have the permits to travel to different locations in Indonesia within the program's geographical target areas
- Excellent technical capacities
- Good command in English and native Indonesian
Responsibilities
SNV
- Provide guidance and key messages to be captured in the videos
- Advise on the assessment set up and design, provide feedback as required
- Pay the fee and costs for video production process (cost include airfare, hotel, transportation, meals)
- Assist with arranging contact with relevant stakeholders (interview, meetings, etc.) as required
Service Provider
- Align SNV input to the product development
- Lead to produce the deliverables
- Involve SNV and relevant stakeholders in the process
COORDINATION ARRANGEMENT
The videographer will work with and report directly to Knowledge Management Officer in close coordination with BIPOSC programme manager. SNV's team will guide the videographer in all of the design processes. The vvideographer is responsible for ensuring that systematic quality assurance procedures are in place. The vvideographer will perform revisions to work product as reasonably requested by SNV.
TERMS OF PAYMENT
Payment will be made in IDR after submission of all deliverables mentioned in point 5:
- 1st payment after the approved pre-production deliverables
- 2nd payment after the approved videos previews and initial stock photos before editing
- Final payment after the approved final videos and final stock photos
