In Indonesia, GIZ's Energy Programme Indonesia acts as trusted partner and technical advisor to the Government of Indonesia for the transition towards a sustainable energy system. Besides the bilateral energy cooperation portfolio, GIZ supports the German government in the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
The Energy Transition Cluster of GIZ Indonesia works across five thematic areas:

The Energy Transition Advisor is part of the German-Indonesian Energy Cooperation Hub (Energy Hub). He/she will provide energy expertise to the Indonesian Government on topics relevant to the energy transition (renewable energy, energy efficiency, coal phase out, carbon trading), and support Germany's co-leadership in the JETP through demand-based technical advisory studies
To support implementation of the programme in Indonesia, we seek one (1) motivated and qualified Indonesian candidate for:
Energy Transition Advisor
A. Tasks & Responsibilities
- Acts as resource person and provides energy expertise in writing (background papers, concept notes, etc) as well as verbally (meetings, discussions, events) surrounding topics related to Indonesia's energy transition and within the context of the JETP (captive power generation, critical minerals, RE project preparation, etc.)
- Provide energy sector expertise for Indonesia's energy transition to support the Energy Hub in developing and implementing the German-Indonesian energy cooperation
- Prepare TOR and tenders to hire and steer, and quality assure the consultants' work in conducting technical studies, e.g. on hot topics such as hydrogen, etc. (Expert pool)
- Support and advice government partners (Germany, Indonesia) by preparing sector studies, background papers, policy briefs, recommendations, reports, factsheets etc., in close coordination with other projects under the GIZ Energy Programme
- Coordinate closely with all energy projects covered under the Energy Hub to address all stakeholders needs and expectations in the implementation (GIZ, KfW, BGR, PTB)
- Facilitate contacts, manage relationships and uphold information flow both internally (with all Energy Hub related projects) as well as externally (political partners such as MEMR, Bappenas, others, public and private stakeholders, etc.)
- Prepare Energy Hub knowledge products based on technical studies, including sector background briefings, presentation, success stories, factsheets, fliers, reports, presentations and initiatives with support of communications and admin staff
- Provide inputs to annual operational planning, budget planning, project reporting and monitoring

- Bachelor/Masters (B/MSc; B/MA) in energy, climate, sustainable development, environment, or any area that is related to the project objectives
- at least 5 (five) years professional experience in/with and/or providing technical assistance to governmental and/or regional/ international implementing organizations in the field of sustainable energy
- previous experience working with/for MEMR and other Energy Hub relevant government institutions is an asset,
- excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and ability to liaise and communicate effectively with governments
- Very good working knowledge about sustainable energy including the global discourse about the energy transition, overview of various energy technologies, as well as climate and energy policy making processes
- Strong organisational competence with good communication and coordination skills in multicultural context
- International experience, ability to work in an intercultural environment
