Outreach and Advocacy Associate
Yayasan Indonesia Cerah (CERAH) is a non-profit organization in Indonesia that promotes the country's energy transition policy agenda. CERAH comprises experts in the energy sector, communication, and campaigning. To achieve its goals, it collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including the community, research institutions, the government, and private sector partners.
CERAH seeks an Outreach and Advocacy associate to support our growing team and enhance the Outreach and Advocacy division. This role will develop and implement effective strategies to engage key stakeholders at national and local levels, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that CERAH's messaging on clean energy transition is impactful and resonates with target audiences.
They will work closely with the other Cerah Team members to support effective and efficient operations management, finance, and project administration within Cerah. As an Outreach and Advocacy Associate, the work of the employee will include:
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Strategic Organizational Role: Support projects related to CERAH's work as directed by the Executive Director/Leads while coordinating with the Outreach and Advocacy Manager to implement outreach, engagement, and advocacy strategies. Develop and maintain databases of strategic partners and influential voices. Collaborate closely with the Policy Strategy, Media, and Digital teams to ensure messaging alignment.
Strategy Outreach and Advocacy Development & Implementation: Under the manager's supervision, develop and implement comprehensive advocacy strategies that align with CERAH's key issues. Additionally, create outreach and engagement plans. Identify new voices, pursue strategic partnership opportunities, and monitor advocacy trends and policy developments related to energy transition and climate policy at national and global levels.
Stakeholder Management: Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships to enhance the political leverage and visibility of energy transition and climate narratives while representing CERAH at external events and forums. Coordinate stakeholder meetings and policy dialogues and manage the stakeholder database to track engagement effectively.
Division and Project Management: Involved in thematic project management in a managerial role, which includes planning, organizing, and implementing activities in coordination with Manager/Leads.
Content & Communications: Develop advocacy materials in collaboration with the team, work with the policy strategy team to translate findings into policy recommendations, and create a compelling narrative and messaging framework.
Other Assignments: The division manager and executive director will perform other relevant tasks.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a strong passion for environmental issues, especially climate change and energy transition.
Requirements include:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field aligned with CERAH's vision and mission, experience in intra- and extra-campus organizational activities, and a strong understanding of campaign and strategic communications will be advantageous.
A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in environmental issues, communications, digital media, or community development/engagement.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
Experience in project management is a plus.
Possesses analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
Proficiency in consensus-building, conflict management, and negotiation.
The position is urgently required. They will report directly to the Outreach and Advocacy Manager, Yayasan Indonesia Cerah (CERAH). This position will start from April to December 2025 (with the possibility of an annual renewal contract), with a preferred base in Jakarta, Indonesia, and the desired start date as soon as it is available. The remuneration is based on qualification, competency, and salary history.
