SurfAid is a non-profit organization which aims to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing. SurfAid is currently working in a few locations in Indonesia: Mentawai Island District in West Sumatera, and Sumba Barat and Rote Ndao Districts in NTT. We work in the areas that are considered the most remote, with limited infrastructure and few community empowerment programs working there.
SurfAid will launch the ONE ROTE MALOLE Program in October 2025, targeting communities in six villages across four sub-districts in Rote Ndao to provide an integrated program consisting of sustainable access to clean water and sustainable nutrition agriculture.
We are looking for an experienced and resourceful person with a positive "CAN DO" attitude to join the team as our:
AGRICULTURE SPECIALIST
The Agriculture Specialist provides technical support and capacity building programs for the One Rote Malole Program team and beneficiary communities on agriculture and agribusiness. In addition, the Agriculture Specialist will also develop demonstration plots at the command post as good examples for improving family nutrition and community-based economic development, and will examine agricultural and agribusiness aspects at the program site to help farmers implement best practices.
THE PERSON:
You are a proactive individual willing to provide direct support to the organization. You possess supervisory skills to develop teams and strong negotiation abilities to build and maintain positive relationships with government partners. You are capable of efficiently managing multiple priorities and have experience in agriculture and agribusiness projects. You are comfortable working in remote areas with limited facilities, ready to adapt to local culture, and have a strong commitment to planning and implementing programs to meet targets and expected quality standards.
THE QUALIFICATION :
Minimum Bachelor degree of Agriculture.
Minimum 5 years of work experience in agriculture with communities.
Experience in community development, specifically in intensive agriculture.
Good knowledge on GAP, GHP & Agribusiness.
Community mobilization and facilitation
Experienced in providing technical training and coaching
Experience in managing agricultural land and successfully implementing agricultural business plans.
Computer literate
Familiar with activity report writing
Understanding of holistic issues facing remote rural communities, such as: community economic development and agriculture,
Ability to work with a small team in remote areas
Willingness to work within the community with a flexible work schedule
