The Junior Advisor supports the implementation of activities under the GIZ Energy Programme with a focus on technical studies and policy advisory related to power system transformation and renewable energy integration. He/She assists in planning, coordination, and execution of project activities while gradually taking on more responsibility for technically complex tasks.

Junior Carbon Economic Value Advisor
(Job title in SAP: Junior Advisor)
A. Task and Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) Lead, as a member of the SEF Unit under the German Indonesian Energy Team, he/she will contribute to an integrated, programmatic approach to delivering advisory services to our partners beyond project boundaries.
- Support the design and implementation of technical and strategic advisory and capacity development activities tailored to the demand of the political partner(s) and to accelerate the Indonesian energy transition.
- Support in the analysis and benchmarking of international MRV/V&V standards, institutional models and regulatory approaches to identify relevant good practices for the national context.
- Participation in gap assessments and institutional analyses through structured preparation of existing national regulations, mandates, competencies and roles of key actors in the field of MRV, verification and accreditation.
- Support in the screening of potential national V&V bodies through research, stakeholder mapping and comparative assessment of possible institutions in terms of suitability, competencies and development needs.
- Contribute to the preparation, organisation, and documentation of meetings, workshops, conferences and technical exchanges with public and private stakeholders.
- Assist in drafting technical reports, presentations, policy briefs, the conceptualisation and preparation of Terms of Reference for external consultants while ensuring quality assurance of the deliverables.
- Monitor and summarise relevant technical and policy developments in Indonesia’s power sector with links to financing the energy transition and international best practices. As well as contribute to maintaining and strengthening relationships with main partners, under the guidance of Lead(s).

While the position is anchored to the project “Green Energy – Carbon2Price”, which runs until 31.10.2029, you support the Energy Programme and projects within the Energy Transition Cluster.
B. Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
- University’s degree in economics, engineering, climate science, public finance, economics, energy & environment, sustainable development, or similar relevant field. A master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Working experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency, climate finance, sustainable finance, development cooperation, and/or energy public and policy.
- Deep understanding of the Indonesian carbon landscape, energy sector (power sector and RE integration), industry, as well as its relevant actors.
- Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data related to energy consumption, finance, and carbon emissions. Relevant certifications related to carbon management, and carbon economic value, can be advantageous.
- Familiarity with international MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) and V&V (Validation & Verification) standards.
- Conceptual and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to summarize complex developments into actionable advice, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills (English and Bahasa Indonesia), and strong report-writing skills.
- Previous experience in procurement and steering of external international and consultants.
