The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta is accepting applications for the position of COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR in its political team. The position is a fixed two-year contract, but with room for extension and/or transfer to a permanent position.
The embassy is accredited to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN and represents the political, economic, development cooperation and consular interests of the Kingdom of Norway. The embassy has 8 diplomats and 16 local staff. Key tasks include strengthening the bilateral relations with Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN, assisting Norwegian citizens, promoting Norwegian businesses, and building partnerships in prioritized areas. Through annual allocations by the Norwegian government, the embassy manages grants to partner institutions, including government bodies, multilateral institutions, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in areas such as climate change and forest, sustainable oceans, human rights as well as ASEAN-related projects.
Areas of responsibility:
· Design and implement communication plans to support Norwegian foreign policy objectives in priority areas (climate and forests, sustainable oceans, human rights and ASEAN)
· Build and maintain a network of Indonesian media contacts in priority areas
· Support the ambassador in external communications activities, both in social and traditional media, as well as during visits and travels.
· Manage the embassy's social media channels, including providing visual and written content on a regular basis, in collaboration with embassy staff.
· Write speeches and prepare presentations for the ambassador, in collaboration with embassy staff.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, social sciences, economics, law, etc.
· A strong interest in international questions as well as Indonesian politics and society.
· Minimum 5 years relevant communications experience from social and/or traditional media, international organisations, government, academia, embassies, NGOs or private sector in Indonesia.
· Good understanding of media dynamics in Indonesia and proven ability to create engagement and interest in social and/or traditional media.
· Proficiency in simple video production, photo editing and visual design.
· Candidates who can document experience in one of the embassy's priority policy areas (climate and forests, sustainable oceans, human rights) will be preferred.
· Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, written and spoken. Very good command of the English language, written and spoken. English language skills will be tested before employment.
· Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer, PowerPoint).
· Readiness to take on new tasks and areas of responsibility.
