About the organization:
Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia (YRII) is an independent humanitarian and development organization. YRII, previously Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia as globally with Islamic Relief Worldwide we have been fighting poverty and injustice for 30 years, in a world where more than three billion people still live in poverty
Country Purpose:
Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003 and officially became Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sectors for the program include:
- Water and Sanitation
- Sustainable livelihood
- Education
- Child Welfare
- Shelter
- Disaster Risk Reduction
- Climate Change
The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Jakarta Province will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.
Project Overview:
Islamic Relief currently implementing the INSPIRE 2024 project is aimed at improving well-being of poor and orphan children participating in INSPIRE program. The project’s outcome is increased access to capacity building, educational support, and food assistance for poor and orphan children in Lombok Island, NTB Province, Indonesia. To achieve its outcome and contribute to its impact, the project will use two main interventions: enhancing access to capacity building initiatives and increasing cultural and project awareness.
INSPIRE project is aligned with country strategy and main programs of IR Indonesia. While INSPIRE will engage with orphans and school students, the project is relevant with one of main program, namely child welfare program.
For this project, Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking a Media Officer based in Lombok, NTB, with short fixed term for 6 months
Job Purpose:
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the NTB Area Coordinator, the Media & Communication Officer will coordinate and deliver resources and processes in support of the media component to Islamic Relief programme. Media & communication officer will write and distribute content to promote an organization’s brand, activities and program, develop media products which capturing Islamic Relief’s vision, mission and activities in Indonesia, with a major focus on Impact, Innovation and added-value of Islamic Faith-Based Organization in Indonesia. In addition, s/he will work closely with media & communication Officer in Jakarta Office and fundraising team to ensure campaign deliverables are achieved on scope, time, and budget.
S/he must perform her/his assigned areas with respect to technical assessments, awareness-raising, rights holders profiling, designing, and delivering training. The respected position will capacitate the staff and volunteers in undertaking their duties and assignments accordingly
Requirements:
- University degree in media and communication, journalism, social science, or other related fields.
- 3 years minimum experience in Media and Communication, graphic design, or relevant fields.
- Have experience working with implementing partners such as local NGOs or government.
- Capacity to work under pressure.
- Computer literate with fluency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and adobe software.
- Media and communication, graphic design, journalism, social science, or relevant fields.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working as a team member.
- Strong initiative and self-motivation, with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles.
- Able to write report quality reports supported by data and evidence
- Able to take decent photographs align with Islamic Relief Media guidelines.
- Able to write quality reports supported by data and evidence.
- Flexible.
- Knowledge and practical understanding of and ability to work within both relief and development NGO contexts.
- Strong interest in development work with respect for confidentiality and commitment to YRII’s overall aims and objectives, including gender, equality, and equal opportunities in all aspects of YRII’s work.
Skills
- Content Creation and Optimization: The skill could help users create compelling content for their fundraising campaigns. This might involve generating persuasive copywriting, designing engaging visuals, and optimizing content for different media channels such as social media, email, and websites.
- Proficiency in Taking Images and Video: The skill could help users producing decent media materials. Therefore, h/she should have a strong understanding of techniques in photography; composition, lighting, and shooting angles.
- Editing: Ability to perform editing on images and videos using Adobe software, and to think creatively and consider artistic aspects in the editing process. This includes choosing the right music, timing, and pacing in video editing, as well as choosing appropriate filters and effects in image editing.
